I personally think that 326 PPI would've been fine on the 5.5" iPhone 6 plus, but that Apple caved to the pressure of getting to 1080P and >400 PPI screens.

Have you actually compared the 6+ display to the 6 in person? The difference pixel density is fairly easy to see.

It was only a few years ago that Apple were the leader in pixel density. It's good to see them catch up. In a few years all of their devices will be >400 ppi - I can't wait. :p

btw, benefits stop somewhere around 450 - 550 ppi depending on a person's visual acuity. We still have another generation of improvement until Apple devices reach the limit.

Please give it a rest. Seriously, stop buying Apple products if they are so bad... BTW, browsing on Android phones sucks ass even with 4G of memory, and the rest of the phone also lags too. Go ahead, do it, switch.

Seriously... Have you ever used Android recently? If you have not, how can you make such blood statement? I had Moto G with 1GB of RAM... Yes pages refreshes...but I never seen it lags..

It's sweet of you to mention the mac mini.

The sound comes out of your ear pieces.

yes it is true.

Yes and no. Ear pieces HELP, but if the base sound is crappy, no amount of expensive headphones is going to make it sound great. So your point or snark or WHATEVER doesn't make any sense.

Wish as much as you like but 9.7" won't get upgrade resolution but dual domain pixels like 6/6+ called Retina HD. 3x resolution is for larger iPad 12,9".

I didn't state Apple would go with 3x on the iPad Air 2.

You on the other hand, state that they won't go 3x, like it was a fact. Are you working for Apple or have inside information?

I was simply explaining how they would likely do it if they did go to 3x. We don't know.

But if they do use an A8X chip it like this picture seems to show, it would make sense that it's for 3x resolution. The A7 is perfectly capable of driving a 265 PPI 9.7" screen without additional GPU cores, why not the A8?

Also, I don't understand why it would make more sense to increase the screen density only on the 12.9" iPad pro since it's less needed and would prove to be much more costly and would be an energy hog.

The 13" retina MacBook Pro "only" have a 227 PPI display, which on a screen of this size seems sufficient.

All good and well but, iPhone 6 plus vs Note 4 ?

If apple announces no tablet companion with active digitiser stylus I will go full Samsung due to their note 4 and note pro tabs product line with active digitiser support.

Currently there is only capacitive stylus support from third party iPad accessory makers which is nothing like the real thing.

At this rate we don't know if Apple is going to add more ram let alone a active digitiser or better multitasking. After looking at all the Note 4 reviews even the display beats out the LCD panel Apple uses. Apple always had the best displays until now. The only plus for iProducts are the paper benchmarks.

No I did not. Maybe I'm biased since I don't see the pixels on my 6 unless I put the device very close to my face so I assume that the 6+ wouldn't make a noticeable difference. That's why I wrote "I personally think".

Maybe you're right, but maybe you'd get the same impression comparing a 6 to a 6+ that would have a 326 PPI screen simply from the fact that the resolution is much higher.

The same content presented in a larger form is more defined because of the higher pixel count and you don't have to bring it as close to your face to read small text.

It'd be extremely stupid to get rid of the rotation lock. Maybe it's because 90% of iPad users don't even know that you can select between "mute" and "rotation lock" functionality?

I've had my iPad for over a year, and until now I never knew it had a mute switch or rotation lock... :)

Why are people complaining about leaks? I want to know info about Apple products before they are released. Don't you too? Plus this website wouldn't exist without leaks.

Anyway, how are they supposed to manufacture 50 million iPhones or iPads or whatever without some low paid assembly line worker or overseer leaking parts to the press or enthusiasts? There will always be leaks and I'm glad of it.

The leaks aren't the problem. It's the way some people react to them as if they are gospel and then set their expectations that high. Then when Apple doesn't deliver to that standard, they penalize Apple in the press and their stock takes a hit. So Apple is continually blamed for not delivering a leak or rumor or fantasy. No other company can fail to meet those expectations and still pull off a record quarter. I guess that's Apple's true strength.

Unbelieveable still NO LAMINATED DISPLAY!

And A8X is a repeat of the iPad 3 debacle. I'll wait for iPad Air 2S, please.

my money is on A8X = quad GPU but RAM is still measly 1GB. Quote me on this one!

Doubtful. The A8 is already 50% faster in GPU than the A7. So if the A8X is another 50% faster than the A8, it would be more than enough to drive a 3X Retina HD display... Not that I think it's needed on the iPad. I'd just rather have faster graphics at the current great resolution.

Just a question: since when exactly performances had been a problem on any iPad?

Trolling this website must give some people the jollies. Why are you not 'daring' to question Google for privacy concerns? Why are you not daring to question Samsung for ripping off the design of the iPhone and their history with Sony? Lets start the revolution... for Google and Samsung (who are most likely going to split up one day).

I strongly suggest you to make a little research on people you are quoting.
Every question you made would be answered ;)

I think I would wet myself with laughter if they upped the DPI, but kept the measly 1Gig of RAM. I'm hoping for it, for comedic value alone.

Watching all the Non-critical thinking apple defenders bending over backwards to belittle those who dare question Apple, would be worth the wasted iPad year, IMHO.

You sound like a real critical thinker yourself as you wet yourself with laughter at the fact that Apple improves the DPI. Must be a regular party everyday with you.

I do when it comes to gmail. It I don't use samsung products. I do use a 5s for a phone, and an iPad Air with constant tab reloads in safari. With only Sarai running, and two tabs, I can't type in a macrumors tab and research in another tab, without the macrumors tab reloading. That is piss-poor user experience. And all I hear is that it's not a ram issue from the defenders. Yet in 2 years of WebKit in its present form, apps has not been able to fix this "non-ram" issue. That is where my frustration/anger stem from.

I proved you wrong, even with YouTube videos, several times in the past about your "two tabs safari reloads"... But you keep spreading fud about it....

Bah, no automatic windshield wipers for when you're outdoors this time around either. What a fail!!

He's whining about that since last year. I even recorded a video, using the websites he linked, demonstrating that on my iPad I didn't experienced the same tab reloading issue, but he won't stop complaining about that. I don't know why he just don't jump the ship...

----------

With my current iPad, I keep having to type the dam password in, every time I need to do updates or perhaps get a new app from the app store.

I take it, with touch ID, I would no longer need to mess with this, and remembering a long password ?

Are you sure you really have an iPad? You don't need to type any password for app updates.
And the password required for app purchase is a choice you can change (but I strongly recommend to leave it as it is now, to avoid surprises).

Seriously... Have you ever used Android recently? If you have not, how can you make such blood statement? I had Moto G with 1GB of RAM... Yes pages refreshes...but I never seen it lags..

I have, so please stop making me laugh. I've used it, know tens of people with them, many complain. some don't. Depends how it annoys them. Just like some people around here rant about some random crud 95% of others don't give a crap about. So, hey!

BTW, Even a 6+ lags sometimes (probably because of IOS 8 bugs); it is rare, but it happens. So you are going to bust your credibility in telling me any Android phone doesn't lag! Unless they reform Android itself some more, it is impossible.

No it's not easy to see. You actually have to struggle to notice it.
Everything above 300-330 ppi on a phone is just fine, if you use a full RGB pixels matrix (crappy Pentile implementation is a totally different matter, and you actually need 400+ ppi to have decent results).

Looks to me side bezels will be much thinner than current Air, which itself eas a HUGE improvement over the fat previous gen iPad's

You didn't prove/disprove anything.

I never claimed it happened EVERY time. But it does happen often enough that you would have to be a glutton for punishment to use the Air with only safari, two tabs, one constructing a post macrumors and the other being used for research. There is a much greater than 0% chance that all the work you put into the macrumors post will be lost, due to reloading.

It's a BAD user experience. It's been part of safari and iOS7 webkit for TWO YEARS. It still happens with iOS8.

Again, you can not disprove my video. You can only show that the the one time you tried, it didn't do it. It's a problem with the Air. I'm not alone in this complaint.

I don't jump ship because apple has it about 80% correct. That is a MUCH higher % than any other option. I'd like them to address the 20%, and the more people see that the 20% is an actual issue, the greater the chance of it being addressed.

If you don't like hearing it, then pretty please put me on ignore.

Don't think its enough for me to upgrade from my air.

However I am getting pissed off more and more that chromed a randomly shuts down a lot. Maybe a ram issue?

Also hope for a raise in base storage, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB.

Whilst I'd love more RAM and lighter, the tipping point to that for forcing an upgrade on my 128GB iPad 4, would be a doubling of storage.
