Perhaps these are fake in the sense that they’re made of plastic rather than the rumoured metal design. Maybe someone got hold of the CAD files and mocked them up in the current plastic finish.

Oh good, more white plastic.

I'll start getting excited when we start seeing airpod related items in other materials, or other colours. Like, black.

A "mockup" with injection molded plastic, micro printing, die cut poly film, and fitted foam? The mold alone costs $5-10k.

And no, this quality isn't possible with a 3D printer.

Update: The Weibo account these images originated from are reported to claim these are fake/knockoffs of the new AirPods, but regardless, the design is still believed to be representative.

Who would've thought!!! I'm shocked.

Jeez, hostile much? Perhaps mockup was the wrong choice of words. It’s early here! Perhaps they are indeed knock offs by the same manufacturers who produce the current visually identical AirPod clones. Maybe they were hedging their bets on the same plastic finish rather than metal

Can’t wait for dozens of articles without more than a passing comment on the microphone quality and zero *objective* ( you know with like graphs of frequency response and stuff lol ) testing of the microphones.

Then of course six months later after a few hundred million pairs are sold we all realize the microphones are garbage, as per Apple usual, and useless for professional phone calls.

Is November not a month?

When did Apple release via press release a redesigned and upgraded product without at least announcing it at a previous event?

AirPods “Pro”: won’t happen this year!

You are right but then we are also expecting the 16” Macbook which will be their flagship MacBook plus iOS13.2 which is a significant upgrade so I can’t help thinking that we will see some hardware releases next week - 29/30th Oct. If not then yeah you are right, it will be next year for new hardware

Pro-sumer? I think it may have even been Jobs who coined the phrase. Everyone is at it, from Playstation to Volvo. Personally I don't get hung up on it - to me it's just a higher tier of product. Also, I suppose we don't actually know for sure that Apple will call these Pro. It does seem likely, though.

Same. Right one refuses to charge past 95% and will run down to 40% in the time it takes for the left to reach 70%. It doesn't really bother me. I knew when I bought them that they would, to a certain extent, be a consumable tech item. I've had more than two years of everyday use out of them, so I can't really complain.
How old are they?

A little over two years.
This is looking likes Apple expected upgrade cycle for AirPod users. Buy a new model or shell out for “battery replacement”. If so these should be cheaper as a two year life cycle is a tough swallow if only for the environmental impact.

There arent any records for Nov having a keynote.
Cook: Welcome to our special event, thanks for coming. Today we’re really excited to announce our new MacBook Pro, we think you’re going to love it. The display is now 16.5”, up from 15.6”.

Audience:

Cook: We’ve also added an incredibly innovative new feature, active noise cancellation, to the AirPods.

Audience:

Cook: It’s a whole new design!

Audience:

Cook: Ummm, well....thank you for that big round of applause, and thanks for coming to our keynote!

Mac Pro 2019 already announced. And yet they changed the release date from September to Fall. And this point, we dont know.
We do know. Mac Pro is still promised for this fall.

Not sure I agree with that. I knew when I bought them that such diminutive batteries would probably have a limited lifespan. They get used a lot and charged a lot. Unfortunately this is the limitation of Li-Ion batteries. I can hardly blame Apple for that. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, though.

I’ll take a pair in matte black.

Space Grey, pretty please 🤩
