Aww yea, more unrecyclable e-waste! Glad to hear nearly all of these will end up in landfills because everything is glued down and third party recyclers cannot safely dismantle these things.
Good on Apple for taking one for the environment!
They are recyclable. Apple will give you a prepaid shipping label, or you can take them into a store. Apple recycler send parts off to be melted down, including the drivers, which contain cobalt. The cost of recycling AirPods are included in the selling price.

btw shouldn’t throw anything with lithium batteries in the trash, it is even illegal in some places. It’s a shame that many non-Apple products—earphones and many other electronics product as well—are not similarly recyclable. Unfortunately, many companies don’t care.

At 120 or so the regular ones are great as a premium convenient version of the wired ones. Throw in pocket. Easy to use. No more tangled wires.

Beyond this or paying double the price? No thanks. They’re good for short periods of use when needed. More expensive and needing more maintenance and babying isn’t desired. That’s not a pro to me.

I don’t mind Apple extending the line though. Maybe the regular ones get cheaper. Might even see some black ones.

These are more likely to be real instead of clones, given how early they showed up.
