???? Every post I've seen said the benefit of the matte is it helps with the grip. Wow...now I'm really confused.

Both my wife and I agree that her glossy white one is more grippy than my black matte version. Hers just seems to have this tacky feel to it while the matte version has the same slick feel of a naked iphone.

crap

I bought this case as soon as I heard about it. I've had it for a couple weeks. Within the first week the matte coating started to wear off the front corners (the sharper edges of the phone). Yesterday large flakes started peeling off of it. This case is crap!!!!

Now, maybe they are having troubles with their first runs of this matte case, but whatever they are doing to coat the case did not work. Reminiscent of their first rubberized case, which I also bought right when the phone came out.

From my experiences InCase has had poor quality control over their products. They might be first to market with things, but it appears their first runs have no quality testing before they send them out.

I'm pissed to say the least, considering how much they charge for these things.

Be warned.

I was wondering if anyone has the white incase slider and could post some pics.

Also what do you think about the white and getting dirty, i think it would be straight sense its plastic and all

i agree with you on incases's quality control - i had a bad experience with their iphone protective cover when it was first released. but, you should definitely try requesting a warranty exchange - the form is on their website somewhere. i was able to get a new protective cover through this process.

My wife has the white one, and I'll try to post some pics of it after she gets home. It doesn't really get dirty at all, and even if it did, it would just probably run right off. It's a nice case.

My husband and I bought the black rubber Incase shortly after iPhone launch. His is so bad, it basically flopped off so it sits in a drawer. It also scratched his bezel almost day 1. I removed mine ONCE very carefully and it stretched a bit. The phone moves in it. Really pisses me off.
$60 bucks plus tax. I'm going to work on the warranty thing.

We looked at the slider yesterday and tried it on his phone. Perfect!

I want Matte and am very concerned about the bad comments so far. Dissapointed to hear this. Will wait till more info comes in.

They aren't perfect, but they are much better then some other alternatives... My Incase Protective Cover, stretched, but I took it off weekly, it scratched the bezel, but I get the sense that whatever scratches showed up on the bezel, are less then the dents, scratches or chips that would be on my iPhone. With that said, I've dropped a slider (see other thread) and am on my second one with no dents, chips or scratches on the iPhone, except for the Bezel.

the reason the matte is coming off is because the paint they used just isnt bonding correctly.. if you guys want a matte slider than wont come off pick up a gloss black one and spend 10 minutes with some 1000 grit sandpaper scuffing it up lightly.

than if it still isnt the way you want clean the freshly scuffed surface with some paint prep and spray it with some vinyl/fabric dye. that will bond to the surface pretty darn good and probably still be more durable than their current finish.

My black matte slider case is peeling as well. I might just contact incase and see if I can replace it with a glossy black one.

I do like the shiny black slider. It is made well. However, as I said they have serious problems with their process for making the matte black one. They need to take it off the market until it is fixed, unless they've found out how to do this properly.

Here's some pics--This is after less than 2 weeks ownership, and I do not beat my phone up. I treat it very well:

looks to me like they coated an already shiny black one

That's what it looks like to me--and might be why the matte coating doesn't stick properly. Maybe the underlying shiny black case isn't too condusive for taking the coating.

Yeah, I purchased one knowning full well that the case will eventually peel. Regardless of how they try to stick that rubber on there, it won't hold. I just wish they offered a regular matte black plastic slider.

I work for a cellular provider who offers a number of phones from Motorola that have the same coating on their devices...after a year of use, they will peel, but the pictures above just show that Incase isn't even trying. Everyone knows that you need to at least prepare the surface for the application of any type of coating...and a slick, shiny surface is not prepared! :(

Looks like I'll have a shiny black slider after my slider slithers from its outer skin. :p

Or, there's always this solution:

Do you think you just got a faulty case? Has anyone else had peeling that severe?

I would imagine anyone who received one of the first shipments would have similar problems, but who knows. I haven't received any responses back from my emails to incase as to whether they know what the problem is and whether it has been resolved. I'm not too keen on getting a warranty replacement if the new one does the same thing. I was hoping to get an answer before sending back for warranty replacement, but since they have not and my 30 days is getting near, I am going to ship it out. But I'm pretty sure one could call this a defect, so the 30 day restriction likely does not apply, but I'm not taking any chances.

Agreed, it does look like it's molting like a snake :)

Has anyone had any hands on with the new Matte Slider?

I'm looking for a case for my iPhone and the Matte looks perfect.

For the finest in sleek, durable protection, the ultra slim Slider Case for iPhone is made of hardshell plastic and features a minimal wall thickness of 1mm. Interior rubber guardrails provide shock absorption in addition to impact and scratch protection and the removable bottom cover makes for easy dock connection. Black matte, rubberized soft-touch coating provides added grip and contrast sophistication.

I just bought this and I love it.

A+ Product.

I think it has more grip than the matte one. You wouldn't think that, but it has a slightly tacky feel to it and doesn't slide as much in your fingers as the matte one does.

Thanks for the reply. Is it definitely easier to hold onto than the naked iPhone? And do you think it will still fit into a loose fitting leather pouch with the magnetic flap with the slider on?
