Bullitt - Yes, the shiny is more grippy in the hand than the naked phone though I only tested this in the store.

I'm impressed with this case and want it. Would prefer matte tho.

I wonder if there's a way to take a dremel to this with some type of slightly abrasive buffer to tone down the shine OR create some type of swirl patterns much like tweaking shiney stainless to brushed.
Or - something like those who converted the shiny bezel to brushed/matte.
Surely the shiny is going to get scratched up anyway. I'm just thinking there must be an easy tweak to tone it down. Anyone brave enough? I don't own one yet.

One could practice on the inside!

Thanks for the reply. Is it definitely easier to hold onto than the naked iPhone? And do you think it will still fit into a loose fitting leather pouch with the magnetic flap with the slider on?

Yeah, it's definitely better than the naked iPhone. It adds a little bit of bulk on all sides, so if you had maybe 2mm on all sides to work with, I'd say it would fit in your case. You can do what I did, and visit a local apple store, and just take one of the cases out of the packaging and try it on your phone.

Incase Return Policy

I had boughten the White Slider from Apple and noticed a hairline crack on the back of the case about 3 weeks later. I called up Incase and created an RMA, they shipped me a new case and I sent them the old one.

Pretty good process and would definitely do bidness with them again.

Peeling!

Yup, mine is starting to peel too!

I received my InCase Slider in Black Matte about 2 weeks ago and today I noticed that the matte coating is starting to peel off just like the example above. Supposedly I ordered from the second batch, so obviously this problem is NOT FIXED.

I'll be contacting InCase to see what they'll do about it. I'm tempted to just get the glossy black instead.

I had the white and had to return it, easy process.

That blows about the Matte one... I think I want to get the Black Glossy.

my white incase slider has blue patches appearing and they can't be cleaned off. anyone having this problem? if they are blue ink pen marks, i assume they can be easily wiped off, but these blue spots/patches can't be removed even with some cleaning alcohol.

i'm now using the matte one... for 3 days...no peeling ....yet

I don't know if they've improved the process, but I sent mine back with the request that they either replace mine if they can safely say the replacement wouldn't have the same problems. I didnt hear back from them for over a month and then all I got was an email cnfirmation of an RMA credit. I have to say I'm certainly not impressed with their quality control and customer device. That doesn't mean they can't get something right. I already had the shiny black slider so I put that back on and that has worked fine.

Another frustration is that on the product site they have a review section. I left what I felt to be an honest and not too scathing negative review and someone at Incase must have decided they are only going to post positive reviews because mine never showed up. I sent them an email asking why they left my review out and got no response back.

I'm really not the difficult breed of customer, but something just hasnt sit right with this experiencedor me so I've been much more vocal than I normally would be.

I'm really curious how they intend to design a slider around the new 3g iphone's rounded backside. That will be interesting...

I have heard that Incase does a similar thing to Apple's site reviews... They only post positive reviews to cover up the true negative reviews. A lot of companies hire people to do just that.

Good point about the new slider, the iPhone's rounded back will definitely throw case makers for a loop.

Yeah, I can certainly understand why a company would not want to have negative reviews on their product sales site. I just don't like the idea that they call them "reviews". Call them "testimonials" or something, but don't make it look like an un-biased review section and then leave out anything but raving reviews.

I ordered mine just as the second shipments starting coming in (see my post a few pages back). Been using my black matte slider for over a month and have nothing negative to say about it. Absolutely love it.

I'm still waiting for an RMA on my peeling Black Matte Slider. I really love most of InCase's products, but why can't they have good customer service to match.

I also left what I thought to be a fair review about the product. I did say how great it was but that the coating on mine started to peel. That was about a month ago, I'm sure the review was deleted immediately. Oh well.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I certainly liked the tackier feel of the matte better. At this point I just wanted my money back rather than trying it again since the 3g is coming soon and I will be unloading my first series Iphone anyway.

Would like to see some reviews as well, but the only thing that I'm afraid of is sliding the phone in and out of the case will cause scratches to the metal bezel.

i bought one yesterday and returned it within an hour, because its fine getting it on but horrible gettingit off, these are the type of people that would make a car and forget to put brakes on it. my verdict: don't bother.

Well, I finally got my RMA# except they expect me to pay for the return shipping. Now I know it only cost a few bucks to ship it back via USPS but what gets me is that they initially charged me $8.62 for shipping plus a $2.00 "handling" fee.

Perhaps its just their online support that totally sucks. I have yet to try them over the phone...
