What the hell are YOU talking about? That whole app is the epitome of skeuomorphism. Don't you know what that term even means?

Do you lack reading comprehension? Looks like you don't know what the term means.

I said the interface could be updated, yes; get rid of the wood and all that crap. But it would be plain silly to replace instrument in an app which purpose is to make music. That has absolutely nothing to do with skeuomorphism.

It has everything to do with it. You could put a box with a label PIANO for example instead of real nice PIANO picture.

If it's good or bad on the other hand is entirely different question.

This is good news I suppose, but we need more functionality not just an icon change. iLife for the Mac needs more than the iOS versions.

iWork in particular is in drastic need of an update. The iOS apps need fully parity with the Mac versions. Lets hope the one Apple said was coming is fully functional and not a crippled iOS version ported to the Mac.

Wouldn't mind seeing Aperture finally updated either.

In general, the Mac software has been outdated as of late. Logic X was a nice update though, so hopefully that is a sign of things to come. And FCP X has largely been fixed.

I like those icons, especially the iPhoto one. It clearly says "photos", unlike the photos icon.

I know others like the design direction of iOS7, but I'm not a fan. Feels very 90s (in a bad way) – reminds me of clip art and "desktop publishing" in the Mac OS 8 era.

They took away the horrid shine gloss and reflection, couldn't be better.

I'm more concerned about functionality than what a stupid app icon looks like. I'd love to see Apple make iWork a true Google Docs/Office competitor. Take away any advantage Microsoft thinks it has with Office on a tablet.

How did a sunflower indicate photos? Yet I think everyone got along with it just fine for 6+ years.

Steve Jobs would have fired someone for that.

No. You don't know what he would have done. :)

It's wood, not leather. But regardless, it looks awful on iOS 7.

Note: I wasn't correcting you, just agreeing

Absolutely, and as you can see it still is using the old absolutely terrible navigation buttons. I'm sure they will update it.

----------

They're not good but they're not any more offensive than the other iOS 7 icons.

They're great just like almost all of the iOS 7 icons. I can't even put into words how much better iOS 7 looks. Losing all that awful gloss, shine, and reflection. I have a couple screenshots saved in my photos still of how my app layout was, and when I look at them I almost want to vomit at how iOS 6 looked. The music, calendar, App Store, iTunes Store , and notes, so much better it's unbelievable. Oh and I'm so grateful they completely changed the god awful notes app, the yellow notepad style was cringe worthy.

Apple is transforming from the best big-brand design company to the worst. These are absolutely terrible, along with the other iOS 7 icons. Seriously, some iOS 7 icons (Voice Memos, Safari) are the worst I've ever seen.

Unwatchable. Pure Samsung-style. Please Apple, call Scott again

Scott was terrible. iOS 6 was awful. I remember when I downloaded iOS 6 I was the most disappointed I'd ever been with Apple, it was the worst upgrade period. It literally offered next to nothing, and I was absolutely disgusted with the abysmal menu bar changing color idea, I mean it was down right terrifically stupid.

Continues the polarization of the users. Is this what apple is trying to achieve?
Do we want this love it, hate it phenomenon to continue?
Someone need to pull their head out of the back end and realize what are they causing now.

Also, I want an ergonomically acceptable musicplayer for iPad. Mr Ive destroyed my Apple experience. My answer will be skipping iPhone 5S and iPad Mini 2. My phone is a sh...ty and cheap Android, because the old iPhone 4 is in use as a musicplayer. A Mini would have been a good addition to the iPad 4. (I do have many e-books.) But to be honest: It is not only the horrible design of the new icons; it is also the greedy handling of offered storage. (It was already time for a storage doubling a year ago.)
Mr Ive is posing on magazine covers, playing the god of design. But he can only make things thinner. With hardware, this anorexia does function - for a while.

Hahah this is hilarious, especially the storage aspect. I absolutely adore people when they cry about storage. Like seriously? You need more than 64gb? Really? Storage is for those people who have problems where they want a million apps they never open on their device, a million songs they never play on their device (they just want their entire awful library of music on it), and a million pictures they'll never view. Luckily Apple knows this and doesn't care (well, beyond 128gb anyway).

I love iOS 7!!! I can't wait for them to butcher all the icons in OS X as well. It's trendy to have no taste and I want to be trendy.

Oh god you are so dead on with the first part. Seriously everyday on my MacBook Pro I'm so excited to see what they're doing for 10.10. I cannot wait to see that UI overhauled just like they did with iOS 7. Everyday I look at it and it's like a glance back at the horrible iOS 6, because the icons are terrible and you still see that linen background on certain things. Oh and luckily you can change the dashboard background because I would literally never have swiped over to that blissfully terrible Lego looking background for it. I am sooooo pumped for 10.10.

Nice try, Steve was one of those guys who liked the design along with Forstall.

Jonathan's gang cannot do anything about it until Jobs is dead and Forstall was forced out of the company.

It sure takes a rocket scientist to connect the dots, doesn't it?

Almost all iOS 7 icons and UI elements are the type of things some ten year old with MSPaint could throw together. I don't understand how anyone can seriously be a fan of this junk.

People's taste are different. Luckily Apple has Jony Ive which as Tim Cook put it, probably has the best taste in the world. iOS 7 is amazing.

Haha all I can say is all of you guys who say. 'Steve Jobs would have..' don't ask yourself that before making decisions because you have no clue. Haha

Polarize some forums posters on macrumors lol. Yes, great sample size to back up that claim lol. Only 99.999 percent of the Apple users missing. Also based on whichever study that was posted on here a few days ago, iOS 7 is the most well accepted.

I am assuming that you are going to provide the "99.999%" of the sample then. Otherwise you are the same with the rest of us, so please stop acting all high and mighty. Thanks.

It is well received, based on what? Apple forcing the update to download to the devices?

Also, I dare you to find a single post from me that says anything included the following phrase: Steve would have.

Good luck.

1970s or not, they're better than Notes and Contacts. Damned with faint praise?

There's plenty more Apple apps that need updating.

Podcasts got worse with iOS 7 and I've been looking out for a new icon as a sign that someone's put effort into Podcasts. I'd settle for a player and no subscriptions, but that got taken away from Music, which worked much better than Podcasts, for podcasts, until iOS 7.

More effort please, Apple. Keep 'em coming.
