New iOS 7 Icons for GarageBand and iPhoto Appear, Hinting at Upcoming Redesign

Question for all iOS 7 UI haters

Does your dislike of the flat color style mean you also dislike Metro and most Android OS versions? I'm not saying iOS7 is great, far from it, just asking....

Yes, I dislike both Metro and Android.

Android is too cluttered and messy. Metro is just plain dull.

This picture sums it up pretty well

LOL. Way to use screens from years ago. :pYou can have as much info as you want on Android. You can make it cluttered, or you can make it clean. Up to you.

I strongly preferred the Apple design language to any of the others. Sadly, that is no longer available.

Okay, here are some up to date pictures.

Android looks even more cluttered than before. And Windows hasn't changed much.

I know you can make Android look a bit cleaner if you want, but I doubt that will fix the horrible, clip art looking icons and over complicated UI.

I always felt that iOS was miles ahead in every aspect, but now that iOS 7 has come out, it's a hell of a lot closer.

Just look at this crap.

I thought the whole point of the Now Playing screen was to show off the artwork, but instead we have white background, gigantic buttons and red text taking all the focus away.

I hope they don't mess up the Garage Band UI. The adverts where they show the guitar strings and drums demonstrate how far computer human interfaces have come via direct manipulation. But iOS 7 is a step backwards.

Apple apologists say that people who don't like iOS 7 just don't just change.

Many people who don't like iOS 7 wanted change, but it had to be good change. I find iOS 7 amateurish, ugly, and awkward to use

The whole "abstract is better than metaphor" argument that seems to go along with the fashionable anti-skeuomorphism stance is crazy... MS DOS was abstract, but I don't think people thought that was better than Mac OS.

The reason to be upset is not about change. It's about how hard to look at the new GUI is, how little differentiation and meaning there is in the new icons, and how unintuitive the controls are becoming. A GUI design that has its origins in minimalism and web design is not a discoverable interface for people unless they're veterans of said design.

Anyone remember the brutalist architecture style? This is it, except it has color barf all over it.

Two great posts that really capture the crux of the issue. It most certainly is not about change. It's about change for the better. Thanks for summing it up better than I did!
