What’s the point of a $499 iPad mini when it’s barely bigger than the iPhone pro max and more expensive than a 10.2 iPad? It would be great if it could be used as a phone, but it can’t do that.
I wouldn’t want to carry around a gigantic iPhone all the time just in case I want to use a tablet. And the iPhone doesn’t support the Apple Pencil. It is also a stretch to say that a 6.7“ display is the same as an 8.3” display.

Why shouldn’t the iPad mini be more expensive than the basic iPad? It has more premium features.

I just realized the screen of the mini says “Mini” I really thought it was just random lines. Look at me with my public school American education.
Don't feel bad. I have been a member of these forums since 2003… and I didn't realize the logo had a question mark in it until just a few years ago.

I think the Pro models need a bump up in PPI count. It's strange that the mini has more ppi than the pros and even the air has the same count as the pros.

Apple is always days late with their shipping notifications for some reason. Items will have traveled from China to some distribution depot in the US (assuming US delivery) before they ever indicate that your item has shipped. It’s nice to know it has but I just assume it’ll arrive at the time Apple says it will. The only thing I worry about is whether they need someone to be present at the time of delivery because they are quite inconsistent with that requirement. Sometimes we just don’t hear the door bell.

Is it bad that I want one just for when I'm laying on the couch lmao. My iPad Pro is too big for that. Not a single YouTuber mentioned couch surfing with it lol.
That’s the reason I ordered one. I have a 12.9” iPad Pro but it’s just too big to casually hold or to view when I’m sitting in my car. Something small and light is perfect for those times when the huge and gorgeous mini-LED screen isn’t that important.

The one and only thing that makes me hesitant to get one is the low base storage and the unnecessary jump to 256 (at least for me unnecessary).
I have 2TB of cloud storage and a NAS, if travelling I have a portable USB-C 1TB storage device. External storage is far cheaper than the upgrade to 256GB and I have the option to increase the external storage once it’s full.

Mini 6 with 64GB here.

Same.

I have the first gen 12.9 but I really only use it now when cooking to watch TV on. I don't even draw on it much (the entire reason I got it) because it's cumbersome to hold.

I dealing I would have liked something between the mini and 11 inch but the mini seems just better suited for travel and I like it for that.

I'm so excited for tomorrow! This is the Mini that should have been released 2 years ago. I bought mine for small day-to-day tasks and to use as a bigger screen to fly my DJI Mavic Air 2 with. :)
Plus it can be used as a POS terminal and hotel room control panels.

Since the mini 6 has magnets on the rear shell it can be easily mounted in vehicles.

The PPI doesn't equate to products being better. Anything that is miniature that the designer wants to increase or offer the same resolution as a larger device will have a higher PPI.

The iPhones 13 Pros have 460 ppi or 458 dpi, the iPad mini has 326 ppi, the iPad Pro 264 ppi for both sizes, and the 24" iMac is 218 ppi. So using retina display yields a superior display image for a given resolution. But its also about what distance you hold the iPhone to your eyes, similar to how close for the iPad mini 6 vs larger iPad Pro, and likewise who far you are from a 24" iMac. :)

Hope everyone enjoys their new iPad Mini's when they get them.

Cellular 256GB - Space (man) Gray.
This is the first Apple product I'm buying in over five years that I actually want to own, as opposed to what I have to settle for. (somewhat disgruntled developer).

The one I got for my wife, 256gb wi/fi says between Oct 18th to Nov 1st. Hopefully it gets here sooner than later because she has been needing a new one for quite some time.

not a big fan of external storage solutions on a mobile device like this. my iPhone SE is using just above 64GB. Since the mini is going to be used for media consumption I expect to to use a few more GBs, but nowhere near 256.

So finally got tracking and it says check back tomorrow for delivery estimate. Um it sure as hell better be coming tomorrow considering I took the day off to sign for it.

It’s already Friday here in Melbourne (Australia). Mine shipped yesterday but it’s not arriving until Monday because it’s a public holiday here today. 😩

To each their own of course. I've had a half dozen ipads, always bought more storage yet never kissed over 64 GB with any of them.

All I will say is I definitely noticed the increase in sharpness of my iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11.
