This is the company that sells…hold on, let me check..

8 different variations of iPhones at the moment. They include:

iPhone 12: 6 colors, 3 storage capacities: 18 models
iPhone SE: 3 colors, 3 storage: 18 models
13, 13 mini
14, 14 Pro, 14 Max, 14 Pro Max

Notice I gave up counting the variations. My only point is that to you and I, yeah, that would make sense.

To Apple…apparently not? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Wasn’t having too many SKU’s and mismanagement what almost tanked Apple the first time, hope it’s not history repeating itself.

Please Apple, keep the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) and iPad Air (5th generation) compatible with the new iPad Pro 11".
The 2018 and 2020 models are capable models with the exception of some niche apps and games, at this point iPadOS is the limiting factor not the hardware or accessories.

Have decided that I'm skipping the ipad this year. I really want to switch back to GPS/Cellular model, but with the economy and nothing more than a speed bump, I'll live without it.

My 2018 iPad Pro has been excellent. I enjoy it for what it is, haven't found any reasons to upgrade and probably won't for a while.

Same. I would really only consider upgrading if something drastic happened like an 11” with OLED or an iPad mini with promotion. More cameras and a chipset the OS can’t fully use? Pass.

Me three. I was (am?) looking forward to the newer iPP 12.9", primarily because battery life on my 2018 iPP is no longer what it had been (signs of degradation). That said, if we're only getting M2 and Magsafe, that's not very likely to motivate me to part with the $ for a new iPP. I can plug along for another year or two.

Maybe if there's a big bump in battery life, along with an improved feature set, then maybe I'd change my mind... (?). Add integration with HomePod Minis, add *something* other than a speed bump. Stage Manager isn't enough (not even sure I would use SM).

One of the rumors is that there will be a 4-pin smart connector. I really hope its in the same location as the current 3-pin connector so accessories don't break. Be really nice and environmental of Apple to do that.

Have you considered having your battery replaced?

I feel like Apple could easily merge the iPad Air and 11 inch iPad Pro into one product to streamline the iPad lineup a little bit.
Not sure about that, but do think the iPad line could be cleaned up. Heck, I think all product lines could use a bit of tidying. Ex: I no longer see the need to distinguish the Air offering, anywhere. At one point, it was because it was their lightest iPad or MacBook. That concept seems pretty moot at this point. I could make a case for 2 tiers: regular and pro.

iPad (mini + regular) and iPad Pro (2 sizes).
MacBook (varying sizes) and MacBook Pro (varying sizes).
Mac (varying sizes) & Mac Pro (varying sizes).
Yes, the desktop class gets more complicated. A 2-tier concept would require some shuffling to accommodate and even then, given current offerings, is not quite bullet proof. Not sure where iMacs and Stupid Macs would fall... but a 2-tier system Sur elks good on paper. 🤪

iPhone & iPhone Pro
iPad & iPad Pro
MacBook & MacBook Pro
Mac & Mac Pro
AirPods & AirPods Pro
Apple TV & Apple TV Pro
etc.

If the new entry-level iPad doesn't get announced alongside the new iPad Pros, is it reasonable to assume it won't get announced this year?

You don't "need" anything other than food, water, and shelter.
No doubt you want an event, however, the drama in the vast majority of your posts (which I still think is a bot) is quite cloying.
You really need a hobby. TYAL is an enthusiastic fan, not unlike several others on this forum; myself included. BTW she is not a bot; I have exchanged several private chats with her. Live and live with, okay?

I wonder if the 11" iPP will get the M2. The current M2 fabbed at 5nm seems too hot and power hungry.

Regardless, if the 11" iPP sticks with 600nit LCD (instead of mini-LED or OLED) I'll probably hand onto my 2018 for one more year. I know this is tantamount to heresy on this forum, but I find it a bit slow running some of my apps.

Nah. Having two sizes of iPad Pros is good. The 11” Pro is a great size for creative professionals who travel a lot & don’t want to lug around the larger 12.9” pro.

If they want to lower the price of the 11" iPad Pro to the Air then fine. But there is enough to differentiate between the two IMO. I'm willing to pay the $50 (since I need more than 64GB) to get the Pro with Promotion, better speakers, faster USB-C, FaceID, better camera etc. However for my parents (who 64GB is fine), I like saving the $200 as they don't really need those other features.

I would rather have Apple actually announce ahead of time what they plan to announce and an estimated date.

They don’t need to talk about specifics just a date and what model(s) that they plan to release.

I realize that unforeseen delays such as general chip shortages and maybe the threat of a large country invading small nearby islands that are a major supplier can’t be predicted or controlled but I think most people can understand that.
Huh?

They are going to announce them and sell them in 1-2 weeks.

Apple isn't going to hurt themselves by giving you a "heads up"
