Amazing how long it took Apple to completely replicate the Surface ARM line...
Seems that way nobody is shouting ‘direct copy of’ too loud because of the years it took Apple to actually come out with that copy.
Now we have: an iPad that is a laptop-like with touchscreen, something many die hards warned us against for years because of the ‘severe fatigue’ involved in touching a screen while being propped up as a laptop.
The cool thing is: each and every excuse people will make up as to why this is suddenly ok will immediately apply to the Surface as well. There's nothing excusing Apple from not making a macOS touchscreen device now (and please don't cite UI restrictions, macOS can be tailored perfectly to accommodate for finger use).

From the folks that brought you $400 caster wheels... they want to test your loyalty

Ahahahahaha good one mate! :)))))

I like how loyalty rimes with stupidity though. :)

Although I must admit that keyboard looks sexy. There's no denying it... but man... 300 usd .... in Europe it will break the 350 EUR and it's insane.
I mean if you sum up the ipad and the keyboard you end up better off at buying a Macbook Air if I am not mistaken.

This reeks of the 3rd gen iPad debacle. Fool me once Apple... 100% pass and keyboard pricing is ridiculous. I’ll stick to my 11” 2018 iPad Pro. 5g mini led with a a14x and better battery life would be a worthy upgrade.

Seems like the new magic keyboard will be compatible with the 2018 iPad Pro, so there’s still something even for people who don’t upgrade.

I'll wait for this iPad to hit Amazon. Also do not care for the trackpad, but hopefully this will work with the "old" keyboard only case.

They'll drop the Lidar scanner in 3 years, like they dropped force-touch on iPhones.

No one is going to use it or develop for it in any app that matters.

The thing is, you don't HAVE to buy keyboard at all. Or you can buy previous gen keyboard and use that. OR get some keyboard made by some other company.
iPad works fine without keyboard and pencil and other accessories.

And about those wheels... i'm sure the thought behind them was: " Hey, If he can afford to put down at least 6k for a computer, he must have a lot of spare money, let's drain him as much as we can, hehe"

Lidar hardware Has officially entered the Apple ecosystem..It's so small, We're getting glimpses of what's coming in the future :D

I'm excited for the 'Apple AR glasses' :D

Just wish it didnt cost over 1/3 of the ipad cost. That's a ripoff honestly. $179/199 was already high for a keyboard.

$229/249 for this one would have been a decent price. A $50 premium still.

That's nuts. You're at $1100/1350 for a BASE ipad and keyboard.
Apple products are not cheap. This is nothing new so I don’t know why people act surprised every time they release a new product. If you want something affordable a Chromebook is a good choice.

That's not an excuse to rip people off no matter how you defend it.

The last gen keyboards were already $179/199. These could have EASILY been priced fairly at 229/249 and given them a $50 premium still. The profit margin was already likely insane on these vs cost to make.

$120/150 premium is asinine sorry. They are very nearly doubling the cost. There is no defense to it.

On the press release said it would be in stores next week since the stores are all closed.
I like it but I will wait for all of the YouTuber reviewers to tell us what is great and awful about it :)

Also man holy crap does the Apple site wreck my MacBook Pro 17" on Safari with all its compositing layers

Cursor support in iPad OS looks well done. But the price for that keyboard is nuts.

I don’t think the keyboard is that badly priced. It would cost you at least 200 for the Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard 2. The iPad keyboard is also backlit And it has a sturdy hinge. If your iPad is essential to your workflow I think it would be worth it. On the plus side the standard Smart Keyboard is also available.
