The new keyboard doesn't look like it's using the same material as the old ones based on that photo. I hope it's different. I don't really like the feel of the older smart keyboards.

Agreed. The base material looks very cheap compared to the magic keyboard for iMac and does not worth more than $200 that looks like an ordinary keyboard.

Wow - that keyboard is sweet. Will definitely be upgrading from my iPad 11 Pro. I hope the new keyboard wears better than the current one.

oh wow... with these prices for the keyboard, i'm not surprised they made it compatible with the last iPad Pro too.... ;)

The KB price is very high for an iPad I will admit, but you can always use the old one. Except for LIDAR (for what purpose? AR and more realistic portrait shots maybe?) which is kind of cool... and an extra camera, microphones, and one more GPU core... is that it?

Not an amazing upgrade.

Heck the Macbook Air going to 4 cores and much better gfx is a better upgrade.

Adobe just needs to bring inDesign and I can replace my Mac with my Pro and do more work on the go!

Basically better off getting a refurb 12.9 2018 for $699 from Apple and the keyboard then. $1050 all in. Saves $300. The iPad itself isnt a huge upgrade at all.

And the savings basically pays for the whole keyboard then. $1050 for that combo isnt a terrible deal considering the actual iPad upgrade itself is so small. Basically unless you take iPad phots there isnt much upgrade at all.

I think winner of the day is MacBook Air. Updates on the iPad Pro seem not so attractive plus that keyboard price is ridiculous although it looks great.

People: keyboard is too expensive! Should only be $10

also people: spends $500 on eating out and useless crap every month that benefits them in no way.

I cringed at the price too. Then i saw what it could do. I hesitate to say its worth exactly that much, but it definitely needs a price bump over the current keyboards. This thing makes your freaking ipad float. The keys light up. It’s got another usb c port. It’s got a trackpad. People be acting like it’s just a POS cheapo keyboard thats not worth much

Also: Apple has this alongside the regular keyboards. If you still want the older ones, they still make those too

What on earth is an A12Z

It's two better than a A12X ... :p

Totally fine with my 2018 11” iPad Pro. Was hoping Apple was going to announce an iPad Mini Pro. Guess not. Oh well.

A Mini Pro? That's crazy talk, now, a Pro Mini, that's something I could see ...

Surely the iPad will wobble about when you need to touch the screen though? The trackpad will mitigate that, but there are still going to be occasions when you need to use touch - or the Pencil, for that matter.

Clearly this is a wait-and-see, but it has a pretty wide base and cradle/holder - I mean, I've been occasionally using a little aluminum desk stand that's designed for a phone, but with our iPP 12.9, and it's surprisingly stable (and it's only like 4" wide at the case, with a slightly narrower cradle!

I have a 2018 iPad Pro 11". Model A1980. Is this compatible with the 11" Magic Keyboard case?

Yes.

Yeah, I scored a [more or less] NIB 12.9 3rd Gen first week of Jan this year, for $700, basically only lost 2-3 weeks of initial warranty, waited till 58 days, AC+, now it's covered through mid-March 2022, add this KB/TP, I'll be fantastically happy with the total cost.
