It is interesting that this time it fell iPad Pro from the truck. I wonder why not macbook pro M5 :) Comparing to iPad Pro M4, 10% single core, 14% multicore, 35% GPU, on the same base clock. Speed increase is nice, but not really reason to upgrade. Maybe that CPU has more surprises hidden inside.

those numbers show solid improvement. Not enough maybe for M3 or M4 to M5, but certainly from M2 and below.

Since when do the base M-series chips ship with only 3 performance cores? Or is it just the iPad ones?

I’m sure my M1 iMac shipped with 4 performance cores.

Nice presentation — honestly more entertaining than some Apple keynotes lately.

Jokes aside, the M5 (and honestly even the lower M chips) are hilariously under-utilized thanks to iPadOS. But hey, new model every year because… why not?

That said, I’ll probably upgrade this time. My 2018 iPad Pro is finally starting to show its age, but it’s still one of the best tech purchases I’ve ever made. Seven years of solid use, and I’ll be keeping this baby on iOS 18 forever.

Really?

The M2 sounds better?
Are we talking about the 12.9 or the 11.
As someone who has had all the 12.9/13 models and still has most of them, I can tell you:
2015-2020 very similar speakers
2021-2022 big improvement
2024 very slighty downgrade from M1-M2 but very very close, much better than 2015-2020

I can't tell for the 11" since I have had everything except the M4

Get used to this, right from the CCP playbook. They will "leak" unreleased Apple products now - just as they are cutting power to Apple's manufacturing anytime they publicly speak about shifting manufacturing in India / elsewhere. They'll magically appear in Russia where Apple can do sweet damn all about it.

Good for the rumour mill, however.

iPad Pro is so thin it'll be a while before it needs another design revision.

Quite funny listening to the video in Russian.
The end result: no wow factor, no reason to upgrade—well, maybe from an M2, but there's really no substantial reason, except for the bragging rights.

I have the 13” M4.

Darn, 12GB RAM is nice but my plan was to get the M4 Pro at a deep discount after the M5 is released. Now I'm not sure what to do. Tired of the incessant reloading on my iPhone 14 Pro (6GB RAM) so I feel like 8GB will barely hold on for much longer since 12GB is the new minimum being released.

Anyone with the M2 Pro considering upgrading? I don't nearly use it's full potential but I use it everyday. M5 seems like overkill but that form factor looks appealing. Apple is offering $450 for the M2, which I got new at Best Buy last year for under $600.

You need to come up with another tale.

These are “Product of Vietnam” as marked on both boxes.
