I hope it is not 12GB it should be 16GB like the base Mac. If it does have 16 then I may have to second think upgrading
it's 12GB for the base model, end of the story.
Apple will certainly give at least 16 to the 1TB model, and maybe even 24, or reserve the 24 for the 2TB model, or even a new 4TB

For those interested he did some more tests after the video, I found them on geekbench and they are slightly higher:
It's a 9 core chip, so probably a binned one like the M4, the full M5 should be in the 1TB+ model and should be faster

Why are we referring to *Russian* channels? Seriously...

Apple should just pull out of the Russian Empire completely. Clearly nothing is safe in Russia.
I mean, this guy is essentially harmless. It was an entertaining video, he was cracking jokes about Apple and how expensive the pricing is, the lack of a 45W charger, etc. We are not at war with all Russians. Some of them are just interested in new tech and Apple products like the rest of us.

Yeah maybe, but when you look at the rest of the hardware, Tandem OLED, thinner chassis and M4 chip its not that bad really. 12 GB RAM would have been nice on the base models, but not a deal breaker for me personally.

Didn't the base models have 16GB RAM in them, but an unfixable software bug prevented the non-1TB/2TB models from accessing the extra 8GB?

GPU raster performance sure looks like the big attraction this time around. It's kinda the thing I had been waiting for since M2. I am on an M4 Max now 40c and am very happy with performance obviously, but I wouldn't say no to a faster GPU for raster performance.

Hey, great, now the two people in the world for whom the M4 iPad isn’t powerful enough can finally upgrade.

Apple: “Hmm, how can we make the M5 iPad stand out from the M4, so that M4 owners feel forced to upgrade to the newest version even if they don’t actually need it? Oh, I know, let’s just remove the ‘iPad Pro’ text from the back! That way, everyone will instantly know if someone has the old M4 model. Genius idea!”

How many people are already coming up with excuses for themselves about why they “need” this new M5 version?
This will make for an excellent upgrade for users still on the 2018 iPad Pro. iPadOS 26 is barely running on it as is.

This doesn't look good. Hopefully it doesn't mean the 1 and 2 TB versions will max out at 24GN of RAM. With something so capable like the M5, a base pro device needs at least 16GB of RAM. I bought the M4 iPad Pro and it let me down badly with the 8GB. I learned my lesson. I was/am ready to jump to the TB storage options if I can get at least 32 GB. With Blender announcing it was heading to the iPad Pro I was ready to finally take the jump. But Blender with less than 32GB RAM is torturous. Let's see what happens. There is always waiting for a more efficient M6 with a vapor chamber for cooling.

or worse, that it maxes out at 24GB for the TB options. I was finally ready to jump the the TB options if it got up to 32GB. I learned my lesson. There is no reason a capable device with an M5 be stuck at 12GB. It was sad seeing my M4 iPad Pro letting me down with the base 8GB and not letting me to import or export or work with more complex models.
