Sorry...what I'm getting at is.....does the darker left side get "brighter" almost as the display warms up?

1) Have your iPad screen off for a while.
2) Pick up your iPad and turn the screen on....look at the left side and notice how dark it is.

3) Now, put the iPad down....but keep the screen on. This is just so you eyes don't get used to looking at the screen. Let it sit for a few minutes.

4) Pick up the iPad and look at the screen again....does the left side seem lighter?

I have no idea if this is just me....but to me it seems like after the screen is on for a few minutes....it's almost like the old days where displays would have to warm up.

I have the exact same results as you do. The DY dark (greenish) lower left corner disappears when the display heats up. I first thought too its is eye adoption but no it seems to be temperature related.
But unfortunately My screen has 2 dead pixels. Argh I go and try to exchange it but hopefully it is to the better and not to the worse. I like the screen.

Dy & dm

hey guys..

had a DY which had a yelloish darker tint on the left side.. so got it replaced at Apple store in London.

got a DM, was worst than the first one and much more yellow and dimmer so got it exchanged again today with a DL.

havnt opend it yet but, will update if this ones any better soon.
Has anybody got any good DLs , just wondering !!

Cheers. :)

Perfektion at Last

Hey Guys, back from the Apple Store I got to admit the new iPads screen can be perfect. I got a DY Replacement for my DY "dark lower left side corner" iPad and this one does have the beautifull screen Apple is advertising. No tint, even backlight and whitest white so far. Not as white as my iPhone's screen but still a not yellow kind of white. It's a little warmer in tone I guess but that's all.

This one is my perfect iPad.

Well?? Which London store....? I have a DY I thought was perfect, but it has a darker band on one side. Damn it! Still within 14days, so I think I ll bring it back tomorrow.

I returned my DY because of the darker left side.

I think it's safe to now say......DY serials are just as prone to bad screens as any of the other serials.

I'm on my DM and it's the best so far.....but I think it still has a slight green hue to it and possibly a darker left.

Damnit Apple.....do I really have to just go back to my iPad 2? Seriously?

I have a "DY" iPad and the right half of the screen is very yellow. It's almost impossible not to notice - everyone I've shown it to, sans one person, noticed it right away. The one who didn't could easily see it after I told him. It's going back early next week. Hopefully I don't get one that's worse!

My DM has good uniformity and neutral colors... probably the best batch next to the DLs!

The one I have is week 15 which pretty good at normal brightness. There is some minor noticeable uneven backlighting under low brightness at night. Say, reading using ibook with white background.

I'm keeping this one though. It has no very noticeable tin & pretty good, balanced color. I have went though 2 ipad previously(DL week 1,DM week 8) they all have tin and a little darker at right side. Seems they all have some level of backlight unevenness(dark spot) more or less.

the below are same pic taken in low brightness. just different level to show the backlight unevenness. In real word it look more like the 1st pic.

I have a DL. I scoured it for ages, testing with solid colour pics and viewing it on different angles and nothing stood out. My whites are white, my blacks are black, etc. I suppose I just got lucky first time.

Did you jump under the sheets ,cover over your head in a dark room with brightness at max to see any light bleeding :p

Unfortunately I bought my iPad in Dresden Germany so I think it would not be worth the travel for you (although the town is worth it).
On my first purchase I asked for "a good one" and got the DY and my replacement was a DY again. But the second one is indeed flawless. I could not find any stuck pixels or uneven backlight... Just demand a DY I think if one of those is in your store you can ask for it. I don't know any other serials but just give it a try. Good luck.

My new one is week 13, DY. The screen isuzu better than the other one I had. No dead pixels, scratches, bleed....and the colour is much more uniform, no yellowing visible. Going to keep this one!

Got the DY (production week 15). I never owned an Ipad, so I can't compare it to others, but the screen doesn't seem to have any noticeable defects. No dead pixels or yellow colors over the white background. The screen looks perfect to me.

Same here its a Week 15. As I compared my iPad to my iPhone it really is a warmer display. No defects at all.

Sorry to hear that anisatam. Didn't want to hear that. I'm getting DMQHKxxxxxx, if I ever get it. Ordered April 23, still in CN. Miy production week is i6, what was yours?

Has anyone gotten a DY in Manhattan?

Or for that matter, has anyone gotten an AT&T iPad with DY serial numbers?

Just wondering of all models are being updated to DY serials or just a particular one

In my exchange frenzy, I ended up with two DY models. While they did appear to have more even screens, they both also had horrible light bleeding along the bottom and left side. One of them was bad enough that I could see it with the brightness at 60% in a moderately lit room. On a black screen, it appeared as cloudy areas along the bottom of the screen. I went through a couple of iPad 2s back when the had issues with light bleed, and they were nothing compared to this new iPad from DY.

I'd have to say that most of my exchanges have had one darker side. Usually it was the left side, but I think that once it was on the right. One of them had even darkness on both the right and the left sides, while it was much brighter in the middle of the screen.

My current one is also a DY from week 15. This screen is much more even than any of the others. There does not appear to be a darker side, though the top corner seems to be a bit darker, and there is some yellow. But by far, the best screen I've seen so far. I may end up keeping this one.

Just bought my first iPad yesterday and asked for a DY. athe apple associate said they only had DM. When she brought out the iPad it was the 32gb version. I wanted the 64gb and she went back and brought it out and it was DY and I don't see any issues with it. Screen is pretty perfect. I think some people might be complaining about colors or whatnot based on the view angle. There's definately a difference if your not looking dead at it. Other than that, no scratches, dead pixels or color issues for me.

That's the one thing I couldn't get over.....the viewing angle. I finally got out. My DM was pretty uniform overall, but the slight green cast over the screen and the color shift made me sadly go back to the 2.
