Looks like a s8 to me......

This phone is gonna change the game. Whether you like these leaks or not, when Apple officially reveals it I'm sure everyone will fall in love with how it's marketed.
it better be with a 1k price tag.

You want to know the biggest mystery of iOS, unsolved for many years? Dynamic wallpaper. Never explained, never expanded, never available to developers. You'd think there would be a big cottage industry making and selling these, if available. My guess is they are Quartz Compositions, a terribly underused and underrated graphical technology. It was, and I think still is, developable and usable on the Mac for making screensaver and other cool animations. But there is no way to install new Dynamic Wallpaper on the phones.
I agree. I really thought they were gonna do something with Live Photos as dynamic wallpapers

It's going to sell well, no doubt, but it won't change any game, especially not at $1000+. Apple has pretty much rounded up every loyalist that they can by now. The camps are entrenched, as almost no one out there is still "unclear" about what an iPhone is and whether or not Android is for them. So there are only a few percentage points of possible movement in either direction, for the time being, at least. About a third of Americans have bought FULLY into the Apple ecosystem and are not going anywhere at this point, whereas about 15% of people with smartphones, looking at the worldwide perspective, are in the ecosystem. A beautiful $1000+ phone is not going to alter the landscape very much. Yes there are new folks coming on line all the time, but mainly in China and India, and iPhones do not dominate over there.

If we're going to get technical about who did stuff first. This was Samsung right before Apple released the first iPhone:

Just saying.
HTC and a few others were ahead of Samsung and were well on their way to a full touch screen device. Steve Jobs pushed the schedule forward about 5 years, which I am grateful for.

Time to go naked bro.

No use covering up a beautiful looking device even with a bumper.

I agree that it is too good-looking to hide in a case. I also dropped it twice on cement pavement!

I choose the most minimal case possible, here, a bumper-case that hugs the edges. I don't like the bulky cases, or the battery cases, that completely hide the phone and prevent heat dissipation.

I now simply consider the accidental damage coverage of AppleCare+ as part of the cost of owning the best smartphone.

(Proudly naked since iPhone 5.)

I like it, simply for the fact that I can now get a big screen in a not-comically-oversized form factor like the Plus models. I just hope that the battery life will remain as good as the Plus models though - it would definitely be a step back if the battery life is reduced.

Cut out is ugly and it elimates 180 degree auto-rotation use of the display.

There's also the distinct and very real possibility that the signal/wifi/status icons will rotate in place and will appear down the left/right hand side of the device in line with the cut out

I think the fact that Apple did not implement the tactic-feedback Home Button of the iPhone 7 into their new line of iPad Pros is quite important and a strong hint.
They did not implement it into the new iPad Pro lines because they will abandon that type of home button in their next generation iPhone (and subsequently in their next iPad Pro Generation - following the changes in the upcoming iPhone 8).

Honest question. What's the difference between if the camera is rotated vertically or horizontally? Does it really change the appeal of the iPhone Over the orientation?

It will work better as a augmented reality headset (whilst using something like Daydream or Cardboard) in the new position.

What has the tactic-feedback to do with the lack of an depressed faux home-button?

To me the tactic-feedback is very appealing and I do miss it in my SE

Look at the pic. It still has significant bezel. Unlike S8. Which is disappointing. The perfect iPhone is still a few generating away!

We will never get the perfect iPhone. Well, I’ll never get the “perfect iPhone.”

LOL. That's the worst idea ever. They might as well go 100% 'we-have-no-solution'...

It could be like this.
But with a virtual button. Samsung said they had problems with an onscreen fingerprint reader because of difference in contrast on that part of the screen. But when that part is black and powered off, you would not be able too see that.
So if there was a fixed place where they put touchid, it could still be used as a function area. So they could display a ring around the area for homebutton, put in a video play/control button when watching video, or display a notification in that place, etc. It just won' t be able to be a part of a full screen displayed image. But could still be used to display a control button, homebutton, a button to take foto' s in the camera app, display notifications in the button area, or just display a black area. You wouldn' t notice the difference in brightness/contrast of that part of the screen when it displays something that is an isolated image.
Could be the apple way for this year , we' ll like it and next year's model would be a nice upgrade to get that fixed.

It has about the minimum bezel I want on a smartphone - the fingers in the pic are already overlapping the image.

All these leaks we are seeing with a metal chassis and touchid on the back, are prototypes of a model for release next year, it will be the se2 or se+ of 2018, and will be released along the much more expensive 2018 iphone(8/8s/9?) models. But next year.
It takes me back to 2013 or 2014 when we saw parts of the iPhone 5s already leaked before the release of the regular iphone 5(space gray models).
It will be " cheaper" and could be a hit in Asian en Indian market.
The model from this thread will be the iphone edition(x?) they will release this year, along with the 7s and 7s plus.
That is my take on the previous leaks anyway.

It will be called iPhone Pro. 100% gurantee it. Think about it, they introduced the iPad Pro in 2015, the 10.5 iPad Pro a couple weeks ago along with the updated 12.9 as the two main iPads, the iMac Pro for December... it only makes sense to include the iPhone in this to make their products look more streamlined. You can buy the cheaper iMac or go for the Pro, same with the iPad, and even the MacBook.

iPhone Pro it will be called.
Not this year.
This year it will iphone (anniversary /decade) edition (x) or something and will be more expensive than the regular new iphones.
But for next year, i can see them using the pro name for the more advanced and expensive iphone line-up.
