New Iphone Ads

"Everyone will like paying half the price"

lolz

Can this usually useful site please get over the iphone? It's a fantastic phone but it's still a toy as far as computers go. I understand it's potential, but wake me when headline discussions and boisterous excitement revolve around powerful tools of creation and expression, not multi-function cell phones that can display your voicemails and host Super Monkey Ball.

These Ads really love to say "Twice as Fast"

I say it isn't that bad, but it has some kind of false advertising in it. Though i love the WWDC 08 ad "Hallway"

yeah, twice as fast as my 3G for sure. And i'm in a supposedly great coverage area. There is either a major problem with AT&T's network, or my iPhone is defective, or both. I get 1 bar 3G and abysmal speeds pretty much everywhere here in So. Cal.

"Pretty much everyone will like paying half the price".

Yeah. Don't conveniently forget to mention that the data plan is an extra $10 a month over the previous iPhone, and you have to pay at least $5 more just to get those same 200 text messages.

And then you factor in all of the percentage based taxes and you end up with a total thats about $20 more per month over the original iPhone just for the "cheapest" plan.

I'm perfectly happy with my non-GPS iPhone browsing the web on EDGE (no 3G coverage here north of LA anyway!)

They forgot to mention the laggy keyboard, crashes, horrible AT&T 3g coverage, erratic signal strength ... etc.. etc..

Oh and they must have been two feet from the cell site, I have never seen 5 bars with 3g.

But hey, its ok to suck as a phone its not like the device is called the IPHONE.

i have 5 bars sometimes.

Its a phone, not a bloody Cray mainframe.
And for most, all computers ARE toys, lets not pretend that we are all special super-users or something.

We surf, we type useless reports that no-one reads, we check email, we look on facebook for cute chicks.

Toys - they are all toys.

Only food isnt a toy.

Mac computers do not have to be toys - a major portion of the global creative community generates products that society consumes with these machines. They generate millions of dollars in the media industry, and provide a good living for anyone involved in it.

All I'm saying is I can't relate to frenzy over a technology that merely creates more convenience. You can't actually make anything with an iphone.

This site was much more useful to me and a few others when it focused on the advancement of Apple's creative tools. Granted, it may have more to do with Apple's current preoccupation with with iphone and ipods, and should come to pass.

really... who cares if there are new iphone ads?

really?

obviously you do, since you took the time to visit this webpage to make a comment about them.

these ads are badass. too bad my iPhone 3g isn't that fast. 2.0.1 or whatever could not get here sooner!!

damn i miss the black background too, now that background is white.

the white background is confusing indeed.

i had expected a green background: they can actually receive calls and have a 3g signal, so they must have definitely filmed this outside, on the lawn directly at the cell tower.

this living room white suggests it's inside a home - there the iPhone 3G only gets masses of dropped calls, and "no signal".

Umm one more thing, they forget to MobileMe is not TRUE push and it hasn't worked right since day one... but thats ok, Apple Kool-aid always tastes good no matter how sour it is.

when was i talking about mobile me?
i was talking about 3g signal in the suburbs of l.a.
i get great signal.

lolz i like them pretty good, the song is cool, better than before. but they are upping the speed - even when i have 5 bars of 3g it takes about 9 seconds to load apple.com. so this is in fast-forward. gps is way slower than that, and im not even sure if when i press the home button if it will go back quite that fast. but 'everyone will enjoy paying half the price' lol.

I think the blackberry ads are much better. In the UK at least, the ad starts with a kid playing football, sorry, "soccer", and as he kicks the ball all sorts of stuff to do with your "digital life" fly out of the ball. They then all form to make the shell of the phone... really quite clever.

As for the speed issue, my GPS and 3G signal is brilliant, but then 3G is much more mature over here. I've found 3G to be faster than my home broadband (unfortunately I don't have 3G signal at home though) on my iPhone (EDGE was faster than 3G SE phone I had before), and GPS will find me in a couple of seconds... it's amazing.

I'm waiting for the version 2.1 software that addresses all of the crashes and freezes I've been experiencing since 2.0, the app store, and the new phone. :(

Once that's taken care of, I'll be ready to get excited about new ads.

they sure do say "twice as fast" way to much

"Some people will like their battery draining... twice as fast."

That iphone was just working ridiculously fast.. not even wifi gets that speed on the iphone. Maybe if you massively overclocked it..

The download speed of the file, if you're being charitable it was 2 seconds. File was 326KB.. so that's only 1.3MBps which is even a bit slow for 3G... It's just the browser rendering speed that didn't make any sense - even at wifi speeds on a fast link apple.com takes 12 seconds (3 seconds on a laptop with the same link) so it's CPU limited, not data limited.
