Builders

Can I get someone with a perfectly-manicured hand to operate my iPhone too?
I'm a builder and my hands are always stinkin dirty and covered in cement, and the touch screen doesn't work that well...

It's good for 'work' though... Apple say I can integrate with my enterprise-level exchange server system, whatever the **** that means.

Can anyone clarify something?

Does the little 3g sign only come up at the top when 3g is available or is it there all the time? Went to the mac shop in manc yesterday and the speed was totally crap but the 3g sign was up there. Also the phone kept freezing and crashing. pretty much put me off to be honest

Yeah, the 3G logo means you're in a 3G area, if you're in an EDGE area, you get a small square with an E in it, and if you're in a GPRS area, you get a blue square with a small white dot in the middle (why that dot was added I'll never understand... I don't think it ads anything and just confused me, I thought it was to tell me that I had PUSH services active).

Wow, they have to lie twice as much in the new commercials. Is it just me, or is the song they use incredibly annoying?

They forgot to mention the laggy keyboard, crashes, horrible AT&T 3g coverage, erratic signal strength ... etc.. etc..

Oh and they must have been two feet from the cell site, I have never seen 5 bars with 3g.

But hey, its ok to suck as a phone its not like the device is called the IPHONE.

don't know where you're from, but here in the UK I regularly get 5 bars and download speeds at least twice as fast as the 1st Gen (proof attached :) )

You can hardly blame Apple for AT&T's 3G coverage (but you can blame them for the bugs ;) )

Yer same here I pretty much always have 4 or 5 bars of 3G, the only places I don't are places like, underground Tube stations where I get zero signal.

false advertising

I don't know if its just me, but it looks like the spinner on the top of the iPhone status bar was moving very fast at parts. mhmmmm, take a look.

Anyone else noticed that Safari and SMS are swapped on Jap iPhones? It shows it in the Japanese ads posted on the first page of this thread.

Suppose it's because the Japanese aren't really into the SMS thing.

</useless fact of the day>

I hate every single one of the new ones. The old ones from before the iPhone was launched were much cooler, but maybe that was because we were seeing the phone in action for the first time.

I agree, however last years' one with that guy talking about visual voicemail......he was saying something like....it's the greatest thing, well this guy owes me money and left a 5 minute voicemail, so I can just delete it since he is just saying how he can't pay me back...

it went something like that. Anyway, I couldn't stand that guy. Probably a stock broker, and here is on a an apple commercial acting like a bookie or something

Apple has quick internet I was in an apple store playing around (ok, I do that all the time when I walk into one). They have blazing fast internet - even faster than my hard-wired internet here at home. Hey, when you got the money, you can afford to buy the fastest internet available.....

besides, they did probably speed up some of the video. It costs $4 million for a 1 minute ad on superbowl sunday. Not sure what prices are during the rest of the year - but advertising on TV is expensive.

I wonder just how seriously Apple will view the many disappointed comments like those I have read recently, at least about the iPhone 3G's phone/network performance.

I mean, you see these crazy lines nearly two weeks later, you read articles about the iPhone 3G selling twice as fast, etc.

Then can you blame Apple for being less than terribly concerned with many of the forum comments?

Lmao I wish my iPhone worked like that. Maps opening up quickly and pin pointing my location instantly, Safari loading a page in 2-3 seconds.

The commercials are kinda nice I guess, would prefer the old music though.

They really lied about the speed in these commercials though.

Super Roid iPhone

I like the Hallway ad but the others sure have a roided up iPhone.

Our 3G network here nationally is not mature obviously. But where I live right by NYC, I'm getting 5 bars to the left of AT&T with the 3G symbol up. The speeds were awful but now getting much better. The range is still wide with an average of about 400K. A lot better than than the 60K the first day.

Also was on a trip north of Albany. Surprised to see that 3G was showing if even at a weak signal of one bar. But the speeds were fine and quite usable there as well.

Clearly they are tweaking the system even as it continues to roll out. Hopefully AT&T will put the right investment into getting it done.
:apple:

There is a huge difference between the speed at which the iPhone on the ad operates and actual real life experience wth 2.0.

Maybe they should place one of those disclaimers you see at the bottom of all the eyelash extension ads? ;)

"False eyelashes used and enhanced in post-production".

Which is exactly what Apple is doing: Enhancing in post-production to give a false impression…

Without the eyelashes, of course. ;)

doubleplusunslow

"unslow"???

what happened to that apple-smashes-big-brother mentality of 1984?

is wifi doubleplusunslow??

"Molto velocemente" (= very quickly) is the catchphrase of the Italian version of the ads.

The full ad transcription:
"A qualcuno piacerà navigare in rete, MOLTO VELOCEMENTE...[showing Safari]
A qualcuno piacerà scaricare files, MOLTO VELOCEMENTE...[showing a pdf attachment being downloaded in mail and then opened]
A qualcuno piacerà trovare la strada, MOLTO VELOCEMENTE...[showing gps localization in Maps]
Ma praticamente a tutti....piacerà poterlo fare...sul proprio telefono."

Which means:
"Someone will like to surf the net, very quickly...
Someone will like to download files [uh????], very quickly.
Someone will like to find the way, very quickly...
But nearly everyone...will enjoy doing it...on his own phone."

really?

obviously you do, since you took the time to visit this webpage to make a comment about them.

these ads are badass. too bad my iPhone 3g isn't that fast. 2.0.1 or whatever could not get here sooner!!

actually i don't. i visit this website because i am curious about rumors of new apple products. i don't get all excited whenever apple releases new commercials. i could care less.
