New Iphone Ads

Simply Not True

There is Noooo Waaay the 3G network is that fast. I'm in NYC and there are many placed you can't even get the 3G network. I waited on line for the 3G iphone and returned it. Besides the 3G and the software update, which is available to the old Iphone, there isn't that much of a difference with the new iphone. Oh yeah there is, it doesn't work with your current docking stations, car chargers, etc........ I'll wait for the next IPhone...

Reviews:

"Everyone"
Why do they go out of their way to say everyone will love paying half the price when it's a contentious issue already that half-the-price marketing only applied to new AT&T subscribers or AT&T subscribers eligible for an upgrade? Everyone might love paying half the price if everyone were eligible for it. This ad: stinks.

"Unslow"
Ends with the line, "The Internet . . . you guessed it . . . twice as fast." Completely hackneyed. Sounds like suffocatingly smarmy marketing. This ad: stinks.

"Work Friendly"
How did they manage in this enterprise-focused ad not to mention Exchange compatibility once? The phone "automatically keeps up with your work contacts." Yes, it pushes changes in contacts over the air. I don't think this is significant to most people, and I don't think this ad conveys the significance of this feature to those people it would be important to. Again, the last line, "In other words, it works great . . . with work," is gag-worthy. This ad: stinks.

My, oh my, look at all the people complaining about the "speed" of the 3G iPhone aspect of these commercials. I could be wrong but I don't remember that being said about the original iPhone commercials that ran on EDGE and WiFi and yet the commercial had "3G speed downloads", when from a "truthful" point of view the commercial of the original iPhone ads should of been like this...

Regarding at&t coverage, there seem to be those that have no problems and those that get terrible reception. That statement can just about cover every mobile carrier.

Regarding the bugginess of the App Store for native iPhone apps, wasn't Steve Jobs a little uneasy with regards to what could happen with native third party apps. But the massess spoke and Steve listened in spite of his better judgement I bet and the masses got what they asked for.

"So far, Apple has maintained that only Apple or Apple-approved software would run on the phone (as is the case with the iPod). Apple's reasoning is that this must be done in order to keep the iPhone up to the company's legendarily high standards of quality. But according to rumors and recent statements made by Steve Jobs, it appears Apple may have had a change of heart -- or is wisely relenting to all of the criticism."

I'm sure over time Apple will get it's act together with iPhone, native apps, mobileme, I hope, and return to it's "legendarily high standards of quality"...

really... who cares if there are new iphone ads?

IM just curious, but what is the point of having a separate tab for the iPhone here and yet every piece of info gets posted to page 1?

Why not either delete the iPhone tab here or use it for iPhone news?

Just a thought! Now Flame on all you iPhoners--))));):D:eek::)

the new iphone commercials arent good anymore:!
they dont have the really catchy song that would make me turn to the t.v when im on the computer.

DUNE DUN DUNE DUNE DUNE DUNE.
damn i miss the black background too, now that background is white.

and the one that steve showed at wwdc 08 was like verizon style, eww.

Couldn't agree more...but i did like the one that steve showed at WWDC 08

Does anyone know the name of the song that plays in the commercials, or is it just a short clip of music made specifically for the iPhone ads?

If they are bothering to advertise maybe that means that stock is coming up.

No reason to advertise if the expect to sell all they can deliver, or to drive customers into the store and walk away angry because there is nothing to buy.

I don't need 3G speeds - I just want my keyboard to work again
... and to not wait 30 seconds for Contacts to load
... and to use Safari without it crashing
... and to use "Locate Me" without google maps crashing
... and to click a button and have it actually do something
... and click the top cell of a table and not have it jump to the 3rd cell in the list

I know this isn't relevant to the thread but seeing those ads made me sad :(

two things:

1. there's no way 3G is that fast. even on WIFI it doesn't come close to that fast. It's just not realistic, bordering on false advertising.

2. the new music in the ad is awful. I couldn't stand it, and I didn't even bother watching the 3rd commercial because I didn't want to hear that music again.

I want THAT iphone too. My 1g iphone isn't even that fast with WIFI! Amazing phone with snappy UI and even snappier 3G connection - too bad it's not real. Maybe in the future, or maybe with the next update?

Those definitely had to be sped up, I can't even get that kind of speed over wifi....the ads also seem kinda annoying. It also crashes...twice as fast; the battery dies....twice as fast....lol.

haha I love the fact that according to the GPS the room they are in is moving down pineapple street in Brooklyn Heights. :p

Its not HALF THE PRICE

i love the whole "everyone will like paying half as much" or however they phrase it...however LOADS of people aren't able to get "half as much". i can't wait for everyone to freak out next year when they aren't "eligible" because they got the deal on the 3g this year

I am so sick and tired of people talking about how its half the price. Its NOT. Its more expensive per month, equating to a more expensive iPhone over two years. In the US its $10 a more per month, plus $5 for text ($15 for 1500!). For a plan with 450 minutes, 1500 texts, and not even nights and weekends unlimited, its $85. Sprint can give you everything unlimited for $99. At&t needs to start getting competitive with their pricing and the ultimate tipping point is the 5000 nights and weekend minutes.

This seems like false advertising to me. The phone is not that fast.

False advertising is in the eye of the beholder...

The old Apple commercials showed Safari pulling up webpages like NYT and attachments pretty quick with an EDGE / WiFi First Gen iPhone and there seemed little complaint. ;)

Oh yeah, and when I eat a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Cracker, a geyser of cheese doesn't come underneath me and lift me off the ground in all that cheesy goodness...

Or if I yell, "Hey, Kool-Aid" a big pitcher of Kool-Aid with legs doesn't come out a running...

Or if I spray myself with Tag Body Spray, after considering myself warned, and wait to be ravished by a bunch of beautiful ladies, but nothing... damn it!

Notice how Apple took down all the original iPhone and black curtain iPhone ads. None of them touted EDGE speed or pricing so why be rid of them? :apple:

Definitely calling b.s. on the speed shown in the ad for the maps app. Even in San Francisco where I frequently get full bars of 3G and am in an open field it still takes about 10 seconds or more to get my GPS position as a blue dot. I understand they have 30 seconds to get the ad out, but don't lie to me.

Thanks for taking up that space with your attempt to be clever.

pfffft. my iphone doesn't move nearly as fast as that one in the commercial does, even on wifi. the GPS DEFINITELY ain't that fast.

one wonders if they were playing the demonstration video in fast forward.

I was about to write the same thing...commercials are ok...but I wish my 3g was that fast!!!!!
