Well, it does matter since the blue pixel is bigger than the other two. How do you compare ppi in that case with another tech. The fact that you mention 1080p just make me roll my eyes. ppi has nothing to do with 1080p, nothing. You can have 1080p on your TV with a different ppi than your phone.

You gotta get out more. Lol.
But here's a hint, 1080P. At pixel densities above 380+ PPI , dont think pixel layout matters. You just gotta be able willing to see things as they are.

----------

Well, if you like a blueish screen then you go with pentile, that is not RGB accurate like the IPS LCD.

It's sharper because those screens have higher density for both pixels and subpixels. Pentile arrangement was never an issue by itself (there is nothing inherently wrong with arranging pixels this way compared to classic RGB). The problem was that the actual amount (and density) of subpixels used to be lower for early pentile AMOLED screens but now it exceeds that of iPhone's screen.

Are they actually saying the display is a better display because of the picture quality?

To be clear: I don't care if they say it's better just because it's larger and the picture is larger (I want some analysis of the quality of the image).

Lol phablets. I guess Apple will have to make something with a screen size between the iphone and iPad mini to stay competitive, but dear God, enough with the oversized phone screens already. Stay small, stay classy!

Listen people, buy a tablet/laptop and stop reading books and watching videos on your phone. You're ruining smartphones for everyone else.

Lame Samsung actually produces a wide range of phones in sizes that are smaller, equal and larger than that of iPhone. It's not clear what your problem with Samsung is. Apple is a different story. Because they claim that they know better than consumers what people actually need they may very well switch to larger size and tell you that that's what you actually want.

Well i don't want a larger screen thats the bottom line for me. I'm good with what I have. The only reason why people want larger screens is because they make a larger screen. Bigger is not always better. We went from super large cell phones down to smaller size phones that can fit in your pocket now we're going back up to gigantic phones.. Samsung will probably make a 10inch phone at some point and call it the gigantasorous S...

People don't know what they want until you show it to them. Now who said that? Hmmmm.......

no 5" screen no new iPhone

I put the iPhone 5 into my BMW (yes there is now a snap in adapter).

For day to day use I have a Sony Xperia ZL 5" and I could be happier - big screen, longer battery live, "Swiftkey" keyboard, nfc, better lte (compared to the iPhone 5, same compared to 5s) ...

two system doesn't make it easy to synchronise - thats why if there was a 5" iPhone i would by it, but there isn't

You haven't been following their completely incompetent coverage of most consumer electronics for the past few years, have you.
They clearly have an axe to grind with Apple.

I'm sorry, but just because they don't place every single Apple device at the top of every single list doesn't mean they have an axe to grind.

Comparing display size of an iPhone with a samsung phablet is stupid. Each serves a different purpose, for different needs. I hope Apple never releases anything like it. I see people walking with those huge phones, reminding me when people started to carry Boomboxes instead of Walkmans.

Also, comparing battery time between the two is also stupid, as in those big phablets you can fit a much larger battery.

I would rather read Archie's Digest than Consumer's Report. :D

Are you kidding? There's people out there who want a huge phone for everyone to see it, and would be even happier if they could come with a ring to hold the price tag also for everyone to see. :D

Exactly.

Lol at people with their ginormous phones on their faces.

I throw hardcover dictionary's at people holding 6 inch screen phones up to their head.

Yep. Ruins my day each time I see one. I guess, it is the modern day equivalent of just being happy with ugly dumb flip phones. It is just so freakin huge, you have no way avoiding them.

First of all - you aren't everyone. We're all glad you're good with what you have.

Second - what I bolded has to be one of the more ridiculous comments I've read on here.

The only reason people want a phone in various colors is because they make phones in various colors

The only reason people want a phone with fingerprint ID is because they make a phone with fingerprint ID

The only reason people want phones with more memory is because they make phones with more memory

The only rea.... see where I'm going with this?

Seeing somebody with a larger phone ruins your day huh??

Well, according to the experts iPhone 5 display is somewhat bluish compared to Samsung Galaxy S4 which is much closer to the norm. According to DisplayMate.com, white color temperatures (Degrees Kelvin) for SGS3, SGS4 and iPhone 5 are as follows:

SGS3
7,860 K - Somewhat Too Blue

SGS4
7,186 K Standard Mode
6,591 K Movie Mode - Movie Mode Excellent

iPhone 5
7,461 K - Somewhat Too Blue

Note: D6500 is the standard color of White for most Content and needed for accurate color reproduction.

Never thought I would have heard Android being better for battery than iOS.

I can usually get a couple of days out my iPhone 5... yet my GS4 wielding friends get worried at the thought of leaving their houses without the charger.

This.

My Dad and brothers GS4 and HTC One (respectivly) are both always on chargers, and they always complain about battery. I use my iPhone 5 all the time, and have only had an issue with battery life ONCE. And that was when I couldn't charge it for 3 days.

I easily get through a 20 hour day on a single charge, with 10% to spare usually.

This has nothing to do with them bashing Apple. Consumer Reports are what my grandparents read when they want to know which DVD/VCR combo to buy. Then they go to Sears and get it.

In this day and age I go to Best Buy to view and try the item, pull out my iPhone and scan the item to find reviews online, and then purchase it from somewhere like NewEgg, B&H or Amazon. Consumer Reports is irrelevant and dying a slow death. I'm not even talking just about electronics. I did this recently with a microwave at Best Buy, a grill at Lowes, and even a saw stand at Home Depot.

I've flipped through my grandparent's CS magazine and I can tell you that most of the time they're completely wrong. Case in point is saying that Android devices have the best battery life. My mother in law charges her Galaxy multiple times during the day. Every time she comes over she has to sit on the end of our couch that is by the outlet so she can keep replying to texts without it dying. It's pretty ridiculous. Only reason she has it is because she can read the larger screen better. She is willing to get a bigger iPhone if it becomes available. Same thing with my boss' husband.

I wouldn't be surprised if Android manufacturers provide CS with "special units" just like they were trying to game the system for benchmarks and were called out on it recently.
Reviews are subjective. If you don't like something, it doesn't matter what someone else says.

Does Motorola also use the washed-out Smurf-blue tainted screens than Samsung uses?

"washed-out" is a feature of LCD panels (i.e. iPhone). Motorola uses Samsung's SAMOLED panels which can go from accurate color reproduction to vivid (over-saturated colors). As far as "blue tainted" is concerned - see my other post above.
