Maybe all the people there should join the rest of the world and get with the times. Now had they been in the EU and the old people stopped whining about change then YEAH it would have been today.

yeah, tell me about it 🙁 Today there was a (non-representative) vote on whether Switzerland should begin talks with the EU about Switzerland's joining in the future in "20 Minuten" (a Swiss newspaper) and 70% of the participants were EVEN against mere talks, even though no strings would be attached to negotiations. This really makes me wanna puke - I've always been in favor of a membership in the EU. Well, what the heck - I guess I'll be moving across the border to Germany next year anyway.

But for sure it cannot be too far away, why would they otherwise put that text on their webpage, which was not there a few days ago.

It WILL COME, I believe the problem is they want as many of these prepay cards available. A company called CableCom was ready to launch the servers today but Apple decided to hold back.

So what about Norway! Don't we even deserve to be mentioned?

Well, it's probably fake anyway. Why should anyone inside of Apple bother posting such information to a rumorsite forum only a few hours before they go public anyway?

First post BTW 🙂

I'm hoping it will come. And I do believe it will. I've mentioned it before, but check out this article! This must mean that negotiations are about to end, since they all sell songs for the same price with just about the same criterias..

in Kiosks and Post Offices and it would make lots of sense for Apple to be selling iTunes gift certificates through post offices and kiosks here.

but of course, this wouldn't be a reason for Apple not to start the shop today - I mean, there are plenty of people with credit cards who would buy songs right away, why wait until every single post office on every single mountain has received an ample amount of gift certificates???
the only reason why Apple would delay a launch would be difficulties during the negotiations with the IFPI (aka the Swiss record "overlords"), who have been preventing any progress as far as legal downloads go for years now and at the same time have been prosecuting downloaders by potentially illegal means (somehow they convinced the Swiss federal police to give them access to the internet backbones and to filter all web-traffic for MP3 files. Now, that's not a joke - go to www.nzz.ch and search for the article 🙂.
Now if that were the reason for another delay, it REALLY wouldn't surprise me - they stopped Microsoft from launching their service two weeks ago as well.

To me this is some pretty clear evidence, and all those 'inside' information seems only to confirm it:

This text is there in the Swiss, Italian, Irish, Danish, Swedish, Austrian, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Belgium and Japanese(!) store, but not in the Canadian and Australian one. It also not present in the Norvegian, Icelandic (Icelandian?), Greek, Czech and Polish store, but they have much less text anyway on that page, maybe they did not translate all of it. (Interestingly, the Finnish and Portuguese store is in English, although the main Apple web page is in Finnish/Portuguese.)
Luxemburg does not seem to have an Apple web page.

It looks like most if not all of the still iTMS-less EU-15 countries will get access (plus Switzerland and Japan). Sorry for Canada and Australia. Inconclusive on the new EU members like Poland and smaller Non-EU countries like Norway.

Why would they update that but not add the 60Gb? And normally the store doesn't get updated until after the announcements. I still choose to remain skeptical and hopeful

i saw the last one. i don't remember if it was live, i think they put it up right after it finished...
do we have a 'mole' attending or anything?

I'm sure that if it is all possible arn will have someone there. At least that is the way that he has done at other events.

Could very well be the prepay is the excuse. But thats what was told

Wasn't that posted after the event?

Yes it was after the event, but it was actually posted at some point - in my earlier post, the one he was replying to, I stated that I did not believe they were webcasted or even made available for viewing afterwards. He was just pointing out that they were indeed recorded.

People are crazy in here! Yes, you're right. Apple would NEVER update their web-pages to give any hints before the announcements. Never!

personally i think someone at apple is employed to play with our minds. take for example the new g5 towers. a few countries got those front page image like things before they were announced but if i remember correctly the details on the images were not exactly right?

The Apple Australia site has a tab at the top for 'iPod+iTunes' for the very first time as of just a little while ago - this used to be just 'iPod'. A sign? Perhaps... but no other changes yet. Time will tell...

[EDIT] And sure enough, if you go to the Apple Australia Store (which is loading terribly slowly at times tonight), the tab only reads 'iPod'... something is up, whatever it may be...

Just a new 60gb Ipod and the Special ED u2 with the songs of u2.

and one more thing......😉

.... wanna know now, can't wait, damn I'm off work in an hour and I don't have internet at home, so I have to wait till tomorrow... 😱
I envy all of you right now that will be able to follow it as it unfolds...

Sorry to say this iTuningMan, but I am a bit skeptical of what you are saying.

Some of the items that you have posted have already appeared in one form or another on this site/forum.

Also, it would be nice to know what the red tape is actually for Australia? Is it because Apple is trying to get the independants on iTMS and can't because they are already on other stores/mp3.com.au (mmm. Legal free music) or is it because APRA/Aus. Government being stubborn?

Yeah, that would be, like, "premature speculation"! 😀

It is the server deals and the security issue with them.

Okay, someone explain to me why there are heaps of Pearl Jam tracks in iTMS that are linked to various concerts in Australia.

Plus the Wiggles (not that surprising), and other tracks linking to Oz (in a way not surprising but I don't know all the artists).
