I offer my sincerest congratulations to those Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain who can now purchase from iTMS.
I'm on the Gold Coast as well-Eddy Cue was qutoted in a article saying more EU iTunesn stores this month. Perhaps AU store , next year -so sayronya to Japan or Asian itms for now.
anyone else notice that there are 2 more spaces when you go to the counrty choice page? it would have been easy to set it out to cover them up a bit, so why not?
crosses fingers that canada and australia were pulled at the last second and will be the next ones up
I am in New Zealand i have never had trouble browsing the store get the warning page then browse away just can't purchase anything,
i don't be-leave apple will ever have itunes for New Zealand they can hardly organize distribution of the computers here (they only manage a web site about 4 months ago www.apple.co.nz
The Euro countries seem to have been first in line so I'm sure that's part of it, especially since Switzerland and Norway weren't included this time around. It may also be a licensing issue. I really thought that Poland and the Czech Republic would have been welcomed into the fold this time around.
I think the other big factor is that Apple over the last year has rapidly expanded its European presence and there have been some growing pains. Especially with their relationship with TNT for deliveries and with customer service issues. Having to put extra energy into the above probably means less energy devoted to new markets.
Another issue though is that Apple seems to be moving towards an English language store for the smaller countries and I would have thought that would be reason enough to include Poland, Czech Republic and even maybe Slovenia. They did say they will be bringing on more stores in the future. Sorry you guys have to wait so long.
The reason for Irelands exclusion is painfully obvious if you live in ireland. We are subject to the same rip off prices as th Uk for music, and I would say that Jobs was unable to negotiate the 99c per song from the labels as this would mean larger cut in profits for the record companies. And they could hardly open itunes ireland at 1.20 a song!
So folks don't expect itunes ireland anytime soon, unless the case against the cost difference between UK and Europe is resolved.
