One interesting fact: All european countries using the Euro currency now have iTMS except for the Republic of Ireland. That's why other EU member countries such as Denmark and Sweden are still iTMS-less. I guess all Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and even us Swiss would be more than glad to pay in Euros even though currency exchange rates may change a bit from time to time.

well, no one in Switzerland would mind paying in Euro. Heck, I live near the border to Germany and I use the Euro far more frequently (both in Switzerland, where it's accepted in pretty much every store and of course in Germany) than the Swiss Franc. That really can't be the problem. The issue probably is the IFPI* on the one hand and the trade barriers between Switzerland and the EU on ther other hand.

pkis

* there's hardly any Swiss content in the iTMS - there can only be one reason for that: the people with the Swiss IFPI keep on being the same stubborn a-rods (nothing against Rodriguez! 🙂 they have always been.

Apple Introduces iPod with Photo Capability
Apple says new iPod Holds 25,00 Photos

That headline was 10 minutes ago. I wonder if it was sent out early?

where did you see this?

Well, unless I am totally mistaken, EU legislation states that goods and services should be freely available throughout the union.

Thus, Apple making this service available in a few countries within EU and actively preventing other EU states from purchasing from it must be illegal?
Remember the talk about car dealers refusing forreign customers and being fined for it - this is exactly the same thing!

This is why the European Union is just a huge waste of money. It is such a stupid thing to do unless you all start using English properly and take on the pound.

The only way it will work is if it is the "NEW" British Empire.

No news is no news

MR is bogged down even BEFORE any news from the event 😀

Too bad it's still multiple stores, but I guess that's reality. I'm sure the country list will keep growing--maybe soon.

I don't think MacPrime has any real info... bur Sherlock's german is nearly as bad as mine 😀 "net curtains"??? Let me guess... "web pages"?

Apple Store being down probably just means a U2 iPod... but I can dream of the fabled 60 too 🙂

Seems like Apple.com and Mac news sites will be our source of info... too bad no live updates from some sneaky attendee.

PS, I really like those glassy flag orbs. (You couldn't guess from my avatar.) I want them to stick on my fridge.

I'd imagine the presentation is just about wrapping up about now... Apple.com will probably update now...

Seems to me that no-one at iTunes Development has told the rest of Apple this is happening - there's no news of it anywhere! For example, Apple Spain's iTunes page is still the same as it was...

No, they don't so don't bother having the site translated. 🙂

CNBC supposedly says the U2 and photo iPods are the same? Doesn't say anything about displaying photos, only storing them... but iPods can already store them, so I'll still hope for a color screen 🙂

And I hope there's a non-U2 version (if not, there soon will be).

Info trickles out... I guess that's the difference between a press event and a tradeshow keynote 🙂

Apple introduces iPod Photo
October 26 - 14:03 EDT** Apple today introduced iPod Photo, the newest member of the iPod family that lets you take your entire music and photo library with you wherever you go. iPod Photo holds up to 25,000 digital photos alongside your music library and displays them on its stunning high-resolution color screen, allowing you to scroll through your photo library almost instantly using iPod's patent pending Click Wheel. iPod Photo lets you combine your music and your favorite photos to create magical slideshows on your iPod, and features TV-out for sharing your slideshows on big screen televisions and projectors. iPod Photo comes in 40GB or 60GB models which hold up to 10,000 or 15,000 songs, and its extended battery life gives users up to 15 hours of music playback or up to 5 hours of slideshows.

On the Canadian store, when you click on the black & red U2 ipod, they mention the ITMS. I wonder if it's an error...

Now I *really* don't know what to buy!

WTF.... ITMS Canada ever?

Dunno if this was ever posted here, but here's something that might indicate canada is coming soon. Some guy asked Steve and got an answer. (Or so he says at least). That was on october 10.

coming soon eh? I think he's talking in terms of geological time frames. Should be here just in time for the next ice age is my guess.

40GB, 60 GB iPod Photo!

Apple site is updated - 40GB iPod Photo - $499. 60GB iPod Photo - $599.

hmmmm....not sure about this yet. Is color worth $100 for the same size?

$599 is certainly pretty steap.
