"iTunes 4.7. The new version lets you import your images directly into iPod Photo from a folder on the hard drive of your Mac or PC. Spent time organizing your photos using iPhoto on a Mac or either Adobe Album 2.0 or Adobe Elements 3.0 on a PC? iTunes 4.7 rewards your diligence by importing the albums you’ve created in iPhoto or collections created in Album or Elements."

not in software update.... yet

60 AND 40 (= thinner?) photo iPods! They will be awful, so don't buy them. Get out of line so I can order 😀

All the rumored features I hoped for are there (color screen, slideshows to TV/projector with music, album art) AND a cool new OS-X Aqua color GUI 😀

And I don't have to get a U2 iPod 🙂

Prices are $499 and $599, so I suspect the non-photo 40 will remain.

I don't care about losing 20 GB vs. what the rumors said for $499. 40 is all I need--I'd rather have it thinner.

60 is for the real hard-core folks I think!

One interesting fact: All european countries using the Euro currency now have iTMS except for the Republic of Ireland. That's why other EU member countries such as Denmark and Sweden are still iTMS-less. I guess all Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and even us Swiss would be more than glad to pay in Euros even though currency exchange rates may change a bit from time to time.

I know I voted yes!

Apple unveils U2 iPod
October 26 - 14:10 EDT** Apple today introduced the iPod U2 Special Edition as part of a partnership between Apple, U2 and Universal Music Group to create "innovative new products together for the new digital music era." The new U2 iPod holds up to 5,000 songs and features a black enclosure with a red Click Wheel and custom engraving of the U2 band member's signatures. Apple also announced that it has "created the online music industry's first-of-its-kind "Digital Box Set." The first digital box set, "The Complete U2," will contain over 400 tracks including all of the band's albums and over 25 rare and unreleased tracks. U2 fans will be able to purchase and download The Complete U2 beginning in late November for US$149, and U2 iPod customers will receive a coupon for $50 off the purchase price. The new 20GB iPod U2 Special Edition is expected to be available in mid-November for a suggested retail price of $349.

Apple expands EU ITMS, Canada coming in November
October 26 - 14:18 EDT** Apple today launched an expanded European Union version of the iTunes Music Store, adding Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain to the the mix. The same price of €0.99 per song applies, as well as all the other features currently enjoyed by France, Germany, and the UK. Apple today also announced it will launch the iTunes Music Store in Canada in November.

Apple need to fix a few things... namely the iTunes main image at /uk/itunes, and the iPod photo, photo gallery.

this is totally mad! 😀 I pretty much know what my next iPod looks like (though I hope I don't have to get a new one for two or more years, since my 3G 15gb serves me well)...

what's the deal with iTunes 4.7? Didn't get to see what's being updated just yet. Guess it just adds support for these new Pods. It's a nice day, a very nice day.

The iPod Photo pretty much blows away the least bit of competition 🙂 seems pretty useful, especially because you can connect the dock to a TV.. so you can show your pictures virtually anywhere! very nice indeed!

ps. it took me a dozen of shots to get this message on the board because the server's too busy ;D

There is a new Preference option in iTunes 4.7. It lets you set up your iPod for syncing, and yes mainly for the iPod photo but I am assuming that there is something there for normal iPods too.

Wicked excited about this.. going to go up to the apple store this weekend, hopefully they will have the iPod color show, I might just have to buy the 40GB!

Well, unless I am totally mistaken, EU legislation states that goods and services should be freely available throughout the union.

Thus, Apple making this service available in a few countries within EU and actively preventing other EU states from purchasing from it must be illegal?
Remember the talk about car dealers refusing forreign customers and being fined for it - this is exactly the same thing!

This is why the European Union is just a huge waste of money. It is such a stupid thing to do unless you all start using English properly and take on the pound.

The only way it will work is if it is the "NEW" British Empire.

I think it makes sense. Unfortunately, online commerce doesn't seem to fall under that paragraph. I fail to see what the use of English has got to do with anything, though.
Apparently, we Europeans are quite capable of using your West-Germanic pidgin (aka 'English'). So, what's with 'properly'? Still, why should there only be one language? You make 'linguistically incapacitated' (aka 'I only speak English') sound like a virtue.
Can't wait to see Britain ('Great' ..., if you will) finally making her exit from the EU. No doubt, at least in France and Germany, weeks of joyful celebrations would ensue. God, it would feel so great to at last get rid of that constant whining (not to mention the thwarting of every attempt to make the EU really work to its full)! And who wants a province of the American Empire in the EU anyway ?

Don't think so - according to Apple, Canada is coming in November and Non-Euro countries will not get a store. This includes Switzerland - no word about the prepaid thing - you fooled us (or at least me) alright.

good night,

pkis

We will see, won't we. 😉

I have seen the comment posted a few times regarding that the new iTMS are in English. Does not iTunes conform to the language set by your system settings? So if you have your OS set to english then the iTMS would bee seen in english... please kindly correct me if I am wrong.

And what about Poland? We are in UE but we haven't got ITMS. Or maybe ir will change tomorow? 🙂 Is there any news about us???

It doesn't take much to get people to say what they mean. Your sentiment is not alone amongst nationalities. The only thing that the EU will do to the full, is satisfy the corrupt bureaucrats that nominated themselves to run it. The only thing the voters vote on is who gets to be their personal messenger/europian rep to distribute command from center out to slave.

Europe is a bad bad thing.

linguistically empowered - not having to speak another language. Someone had to be it.

Music store in Greece!!!!!

I'm so happy! at last a company tha likes Greece. I'm a switcher since July 04 and Apple makes me happy alla the time. If Apple continuous thus way I'll propably be out of money very soon 😛

Apple could have also supported other programs-eg. PSP Album, MS Digital image library 9/10. is it a mass storage/wia device like many memolry card readers are on Windows?

No Australian music store.... 🙁

Well, Australia could get it, if Asian countries iTMS stores are announced in the next 6 months or so . I read earlier this month here that more EU countries will get it. Perhaps it's no hope for a Japanese iTMS-I thought Apple was working on one.
