I loved these ads, although I can see them getting old much faster than the iPod ads. Also, what do you think about Mac saying that the PC makes excellent spreadsheets? Don't you think this just reinforces the myth that PCs are better for business?

Thanks to all 10,000+ people that visited my page during it's short live life. It seems that every-time I put up an apple ad, apple always decides to release the good quality official version only like an hour later. I put up the roller-skating ad at midnight the saturday it was aired on SNL, sunday morning the official one was out.

I like the ads, get the mac name out there. And as far as the virus ad goes, the average computer user hears that there are no malicious viruses for the mac, and that'll be all they need to hear.

they're up on the website.....

but oh, where where are the macbooks?

They've been there for a few days....MacBook, you'll have to wait

I loved the ads Apple has come out with, finally an ad that isn't just for the iPod. As I said before, Apple is a creative company, I knew they'd churn out a creative commercial. I haven't seen it on tv yet and can't wait to.

Well, that virus ad was basically a "bring it on" to hackers everywhere. Let's see what happens.

Oh, and the PC guy looks very much like a chubby Bill Gates, no question.

LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAAAAAAIIIIIN!

Yeahh... back on topic.

I think these ads are pretty good. I like how they used actual people, and people the audience might know. (John Hodgman is on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Justin Long is an actor.) In my opinion, though, they didn't use the best actors. (Not that they're bad actors, but I don't think they're best for the part.) John Hodgman doesn't seem like one of the most boring business-suit-types that I'd think of, and Justin Long, eh, he's okay.

Yeah same here for my YouTube, those 3000+ clicks was fun while it lasted.

Well thanks a ton for hosting them! We appreciate it!

i kinda wish they had brought back ellen feiss for these commercials...

Quote from Apple's new page on viruses:

"On a Windows PC, software (both good and evil) can change the system without your even knowing about it. In order for software to significantly modify Mac OS X, you have to type in your password. You’re the decider. You approve changes to your system."

I'm the decider! And I decide what is best! And what's best is for me to uhhh type my password......

Why does Steve Jobs always have to put down the PC in-order to sell his own computers?

Seriously, talk about all the features of Mac OS X (iLife, Spotlight, Dashboard, networking, security, *Parental Controls*) and stop acting like the bully in school that has to put down all the other kids to make himself feel stronger.

I think just talking about the Parental Controls in Mac OS X would sell a ton of Macs. There is a huge market because Parents are just now realizing that the internet isn't a safe place to let their kids run around on unsupervised.

These commercials really are a let down because they just use the same old arrogant mythic defense of "Everything just works on a Mac" that gives all Mac users a bad name.

Maybe so, but I think with these ads they're going after consumers, especially teenagers.

But you're right, I'd also like to see them do some ads that target professionals and corporate-type stuff.

These are great for the Mac faithful, but could turn a lot of people off. Way too arrogant. At worst, it could light a fire under the copy machines in Redmond.

I don't necessarily disagree, but with Windows PCs ingrained in the minds of almost everyone, and people just accepting that viruses and crashes and stuff are just a normal part of life, you first have to make people discontent with what they have to put up with before you can sell them on something new.

pc's are kind of an easy target. hard not to pick on. kinda like parking the new lexus next to the geo metro and trying not to stare/laugh. in its defense, the geo gets good mileage and plays solitare really well. radio might work. way more people can afford the geo.

tough call on how to sell without the direct compare thingy.

So it looks like these are the "Get A Mac" ads instead of "Switch" ads. Check out the little spot on their web site: http://www.apple.com/getamac.

Off topic: What the heck is up with Apple making these pages so wide!? Is it just me or is there not a 800px standard anymore? I don't like/want to browse the internet full screen. This must be for those Windows people. BTW their navigation bar up top doesn't even match any more. Time for a fixup.

I have the same sentiment... Every time I go to Apple.com, I either have to (a) scroll across on the page to see everything, or (b) resize Safari's window to full-screen. It is quite annoying... but I guess Apple doesn't think too highly of those of us stuck in 1024x768 (which is pretty much the standard monitor resolution these days for consumers) who don't like full-screen browsing.

The details are in the campaign too--once it leads you to the web site (or store).

An ad can't deliver details about software without being too boring--it can be a teaser to pique interest and lead people to where they CAN get the details, at their own pace.

And if "Everything just works on a Mac" gives Mac users a bad name (?) then so be it--it's the best reason to get a Mac in a nutshell.

I agree. For some reason or another calling PCs and the people who use them inferior doesn't seem to ever work.
