Why does Steve Jobs always have to put down the PC in-order to sell his own computers?

Seriously, talk about all the features of Mac OS X (iLife, Spotlight, Dashboard, networking, security, *Parental Controls*) and stop acting like the bully in school that has to put down all the other kids to make himself feel stronger.

I think just talking about the Parental Controls in Mac OS X would sell a ton of Macs. There is a huge market because Parents are just now realizing that the internet isn't a safe place to let their kids run around on unsupervised.

These commercials really are a let down because they just use the same old arrogant mythic defense of "Everything just works on a Mac" that gives all Mac users a bad name.

I'm a long time PC user, and am waiting on the arrival of my mbp. That being said, I disagree with you. These are short, clever and humorous ads to get Mac's in the door of the public eye and I believe later on you'll see more ads having to do with OS X; once people start to see the real power of Mac computers. People watching TV shows like 24 areant exactly thinking about computers and therefore areant going to understand or neccesarily be interesting in all the aspects of OS X from a brief commercial. The ads are supposed to make an impression, then build from there. They're light and pleasantly true. Your definitly over analyzing these ads. Relax and laugh a little...

Maybe so, but I think with these ads they're going after consumers, especially teenagers.

Exactly the point. Hook 'em young and they'll be loyal.

Oh, and the PC guy looks very much like a chubby Bill Gates, no question.

Purely coincidental, I'm sure. ;)

No, I am sure that it was quite intentional given the general resentment and contempt that a lot of computer users have towards Microsoft's products and Bill Gates' money.

I agree. For some reason or another calling PCs and the people who use them inferior doesn't seem to ever work.
I don't think these ads insult PC users.

The Intel ad did: by saying PCs do only "dull little tasks," they imply that PC users only do the same.

But these ads leave open that PC users may do the same things... but on a Mac they can do them easier or better.

I love these ads! I actually laughed out loud at all of them. You have to love Apple's sense of humor. :D

haha, indeed. My roommate and I had a ball with the "Japanese" one seeing as how we couldn't get Japanese characters to type in Win2000 so I ended up putting ubuntu on his 2nd HDD. It was historical!

I love these.
And would it be odd to say that the Mac is incredibly hot imo? :p

I <3 the clock & calulator on the best.... it is AMAZING.

So, is there any kinda real chance of MacBooks tomorrow?

Darn, only 357mb was sucked up from posting those videos. What am I going to do with the rest of the 24.7Gb?

Brian - can't you get in trouble for that?

Free advertisement it is.

If Apple didn't want people to download and host and then encourage others to download and view their ads, they would simply not allow the ads to be downloadable.

They do it with the keynotes, so they could do it with the ads, too.

Great TV Ads.

Too bad these commercials will not be available in Japan for a long time. And if they were, they wouldn't be as effective as Microsoft's, Toshiba's, Sony's or NEC's commercials as it doesn't have the star power that sells anything in here.

When they do come out, I hope they at least get star power as the voice over.

I did like that the Camera in the Network Commercial. She actually said, "Ne ne dare sore, otakupokunai?" which means "Hey who is that. Looks like a nerd."

My first impression is those commercials are pretty dumb. Maybe they'll grow on me, though, and, maybe the target audience is the type who will connect with these type of commercials.

I'm gonna guess that we won't see MacBooks tomorrow, mainly because Apple just changed their main page tonight and putting a brand new one up tomorrow morning wouldn't make much sense.

It's the same case for Apple Store employees -- I've never liked it.

So you don't like the way apple store employees dress? Have you ever seen a Keynote Speech? Jobs is usually wearing jeans and a black shirt. It is not just the employees of the store, the campus employees also dress casual.

These ads mark the end of an era. The apple Switch campaign is officially over, may it R.i.P. www.apple.com/switch ... I'll let you see for yourself. *tear

Interesting that BootCamp is the answer to reason #6 "Yes, you can even run Windows." Interesting that they are using Beta software to "switch" people.

It would make sense to me - after seeing how boring these commercials are. I'd much rather see a macbook on the home page.

Actually, I thought they bore an uncanny resemblance to the switch commercials, i.e., the casually dressed (at least one of them, although he looked like he got kicked out of a Gap commercial) ordinary, everyday spokesperson against a nondescript opaque background, non-intrusive background music score, and so on. Obviously not the rebirth of the switch campaign, but more of a folksy extension of it - whatever that means lol.

That said I hated 'em. In a way, I'm glad that Apple is finally, finally getting an ad campaign going for the Mac, but..."Hello, I'm a Mac." "And I'm a PC" ?!?!?! They only thing missing is the little teapot.

And would it hurt to actually show the god damn product!? Like expose in action? Or dashboard in action? Or the dock in action? Or minimized windows in action? One of the Mac's main selling points is not only is it beautiful to look at, but it's actually fun to use. There are gazillions of folks who know what Windows XP looks like and how it behaves, but how many of those folks have ever seen Mac OS X in action or even know what it looks like? My guess is quite a few do not. Those are the folks that should be the prime target of this campaign.

Jobs said that the "soul" of a Mac was OS X. You never know that from these commercials.

Bring back the Intel chip being set free commercial. At least it was funny.

Meh...

I like Viruses, Networking and Restarting... the other three just don't sit well with me. But I know a few friends who have had conversations much like the 'iLife' one, or who would benefit from seeing the 'Better' commercial.

On the whole, I say 'Meh' (for the quality of the commercials), but 'Awesome' (to the fact that Apple is finally advertising the Mac).
