Mac mini and iPad Pro (12" model) connectivity.

Walk up to desk with new Mac mini sitting there, use handoff to activate the Mac mini, transfer seamlessly from iOS to Yosemite all the while the iPad Pro screen is the only thing you use, and a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad once the iPad is docked.

You heard it here first folks!

I'll believe it when I SEE it on Apple's site, or announced next month. And they'd better not cripple it and think they're doing us a favor simply by adding Haswell! That chip is already OLD.

Oh, if only they'd forget their size fetish and redesign it so it could handle a decent desktop quad core CPU.

Yeah, because you can fit in a box THAT small a decent DESKTOP quad core cpu. Right... because EVERYBODY else are doing JUST SO... Sure..... If only they could fit a decent quad core intel cpu in the iPad.. Think about that! .. Those lazy pricks.....

About time...

Thinking more about it now if it doesn't have broadwell in it I'll wait until the next update.

The CPU hasn't been the bottleneck the past 15+ years...it's been the hard drive performance.

Replace the pitiful 5400RPM drive that Apple includes (practically unethical!!) with a $100 SATA3 SSD in your Mini and it will run circles around even the fastest full-desktop CPUs with 7200RPM drives. I'd be willing to bet even the CHEAPEST 2011 model Mini with a SATA3 SSD will run circles around today's fastest full-desktop CPUs with 7200RPM drives.

Heck, my 7 year old Dell Desktop with an Intel Quad-core chip and 4GB ram flies with my SSD...and that's even running on my motherboard's SATA2 technology!!

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4542777?start=0&tstart=0 to show you that the older 2011 models even had SATA3. My 2007 model does not. :(

Prediction (for what its worth): next MacMini will be a screenless tiny box with no fans in the same fashion that the next macbook air is predicted to be sans fans.

Hopefully this will shut up those mac mini fans.

The fans on my MacMini are very quiet. :)

I'm confused about this too. For me, 8 hours of encoding video won't put the fans over 2000RPM. I literally never hear my Mini unless I manually bump up the fan speed.

Owner for ~2 years who keeps their environment as quiet as possible.

Edit: I suppose I do hear the hard drive clicks sometimes.

Its natural companion, the current Thunderbolt Display, will make a great USB3 -> USB2 down-converter for this.

so it will come not with Mavericks, but with Yosemite on it... and it looks bad on non-retina displays. So you will want to buy one.

I hope that it has a decent GPU that supports OpenCL 1.2 or newer (is there a newer version of OpenCL. That said, I'm resigned to think that it will not.

I think they will make it smaller with SSD only. The prices are now reasonable and for the purpose most people would be ok with it. Otherwise I see no reason for the massive delay except that its being redesigned and tested :)

Will it be a Mac Pro style announcement? Announce at a keynote, release later. In this case because of Broadwell chip delays.
