Sure does. Just for kicks, I just now went into my system prefs and changed my system language to German. It instantly gave the next system message auf Deutsch. Natürlich! :D

It may be more simple than that : French keyboards are AZERTY, not QWERTY. But it's like this in France, I don't know for Quebec.

Nope, Québec keyboards are QWERTY also. The main difference are the accents and some punctuation.

yep, you are right.

the only real different right now between a upper-level white or a black MB and the Pros is better sound and a better video card... aside from the obvious looks.

so if the MB gets a bump in the video category, they would be better (maybe) than the current Pro's.
Display + display resolution. Pretty significant.

Well since you are all posting your professional and well-conceived notions about the possible six, I have decided to contribute mine. Each new model comes in standard and enhanced models.

1, 2) A new model of Mac notebook; 13" x 13" x 1", it flips out like a T-Mobile Sidekick. Featuring revolutionary all-touch virtual keyboard and trackpad.
It was realistic up to this point (although I think you intended it that way).

No case redesign.

I don't see any major design changes other than new CPU/GPU, trakpads and perhaps LED screens in the MacBook. Other than that you would think there would be a big event scheduled for anything radically different.

Perhaps tapperd edges on the MacBook Pro's but nothing but a typical bump in speed/chipsets and multi-touch trackpads.

These are probably interim updates until Jobs can unveil the radical changes at MacWorld that would be shipping in Feb.

The longer it takes between updates the more expectant we get over new looks/features and speeds, and the more disappointed we are when they are finally released into the wild.

It's not about us. It's about the millions of other people who are buying Macs and neither follow nor care about the history of a given product. They outnumber us by a lot.

doubt it as well.

makes no sense to only update a fraction of a product line.

they updated ALL their iphones in July, ALL of their ipods in September... so why would they not update ALL of their notebooks

then again they did do that other times.... bah predicting Apple is like predicting the weather!!!

It's just a wild guess of mine.

But I think the a new revamped MB can gather some positive buzz right now. Aluminum, price drop, maybe those nvidia chipsets.

Yes, it would hurt the MBP sales for a couple of months until MacWorld. But it gives them more time to work on those rumors which are pending to the innovative side, like glass trackpad, wider displays, bluray, ssd, and who knows what else.

A laptop with lots of new features could perfectly be the innovative product for MW2009 -- remember that this is the event for major innovations.

Innovations are more suited for premium products.

Also, on the laptop area, the MB is the lacking one when compared with the competition. The MBP is still somewhat competitive, specially because most of its consumer base is formed of enthusiasts and professionals, which will get the Pro anyway if they need it.

Well, just some wild guesses. I hope I'm wrong because I would love to get a new redesigned MBP. But I don't believe that Apple will be doing only a external redesign.

Salut tout le monde! (Hi everybody lol)

Here, in Quebec, the keyboard is QWERTY ;)

EDIT: Sorry, Aztec was faster to reply...

I agree in one point only: they'll keep something for MWSF '09. Something bigger than whatever they throw us now. So if we do see redesign and/or specs bumps to all notebooks, it'll likely mean they have something new for January.

display, 13.3'' to 15'' or 17'' not that big of a deal to most of us.
If it's not a big deal, then why isn't there a 15" MacBook? Because it is, and enough for Apple to keep the distinction. In fact, I doubt a video card isn't a big deal to most people besides gamers (most of whom would go for a PC/console anyway).

as for resolution, that goes back to video card capability, which i mentioned.
No it doesn't. Video cards can handle 1920*1200, just check the external display specs.

I say some sort of (mini-)tablet. I'm sure that's what we'll see at MWSF 2009 instead of the long and widely speculated redesigned notebooks.

I've just found it...

http://daringfireball.net/2007/09/that_product_transition

I mean, if all of this "product transition" thing was talked over a year ago, why are we still wondering whether this mean a new product or something like that? The situation seems to be so similar I've checked the date and prices given a few times ;).

Apple talked about a "product transition" in its recent July financial results conference call:

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I mean I found old speculations about what they meant when they talked about product transitions in 2007, and I was surprised because it seems so similar to what you've linked. What I'm trying to say is: they did it again. It means just as much as a year ago.

Here you have another example.

Apple,

Please give me an iMac with quad core and a semi descent GPU and i'm ditching my 6 years old PC and become an apple customer.

Because I'm not buying an outdated imac liek they have now.

Canadian keyboard are qwerty but with a different mapping é is the / etc.

I'm wondering if this "Future Shop" is using a MBP with the screen yellowing issues??? :D

Oh heck no! It's FUTURE Shop, so that would be too appropriate for a tech store to use a cool, kinda new computer.

Future Shop, in Quebec at least, use a REALLY old text only GUI based system running on ancient computers. Talking about small white(..) text on black background.

I just find it hysterically funny every time I go to the store they brand as this high tech, "futuristic" store, but the store uses ancient hardware and software. (Note that I'm aware there are reasons behind this, but it's still funny!!)

Anyway! Just my random note of the day!

Funny enough, I used to work at store 602...the store that seems to have leaked this inventory snapshot. It's literally down the street from me and is NOTORIOUS for bad customer service/disgruntled employees.

I know someone working at a Futureshop about 20 mins away and I'll see if I can get confirmation from him about the placeholders.
