I doubt one of the updates is a Mac Mini for the following reason:

The placeholder indicates the language of each Mac. In other words, the computer needs a keyboard for it to have a specific language. Briefly put, we're looking at laptops only.

You are giving me hope... :)

I see no way for MB to be upgraded without MBP. High-end MB is already very similar (CPU, standard RAM) to a MBP. Any upgrade would mean that for a while cheaper MacBooks will have better specs than more expensive MacBook Pros. Not happening.

yep, you are right.

the only real different right now between a upper-level white or a black MB and the Pros is better sound and a better video card... aside from the obvious looks.

so if the MB gets a bump in the video category, they would be better (maybe) than the current Pro's.

so yea, i agree, if they update the MB's they gotta upgrade the Pro's as well. it only makes sense.

Or the default install mode can be in that language.

Ah that's what the languages are all about. Thanks for clearing that one up.

but remember 16Gb iPod nano was a last minute descision by apple (to counter Zune) but COO told Product Transition and 30% margin drop during quartely conference call which was way before they know Zune Prices ...

I still like my theory. As I said the current two 15" macbook pro's are $500 dollars apart but the performance update is neglible. Apple is making a huge margin on the $2500 macbook pro. I think Apple is going to drop there ridiculous price increases for miniscule upgrades, thus there is going to be a 30% margin drop.

Also, because Apple is cutting down on how many different macbooks they produce, they are going to be able to cut costs down a bit and lower the price of their starting prices just a tad.

The macbook, macbook pro, and macbook air are all due for updates because intel has released hardware updates. We will see 2 of each, 2*3=6.

A source has said that the update will be all about the "brick". There are also rumors of there being a thinner design for the macbook and macbook pro, I think Apple is making the optical drive external.

depends... could be instant or it could be as long as a month. just gotta wait for the announcement.

What? I hope you don't mean that if the "announcement" comes on October 14th, as predicted, that they might not be available until November?

I think it will be in same week or following week at most, i cant see them waiting much longer, everyone is dying for these updates much more than the ipod updates.

I don't agree about two each. This store doesn't have current high-end MacBook Air, for example. So if it was one for Air, it'd still be possible for it to be refreshed, because since the more expensive option is not offered in this store, it wouldn't need another placeholder.

I don't think Apple will do anything like that to MB/MBP. Not yet at least.

it is never for sure until Jobs says it.

iphone took a month or so but that could be because they had to ship to both apple stores and att stores.

for these, im thinking a week or two, three weeks at most.

Sure does. Just for kicks, I just now went into my system prefs and changed my system language to German. It instantly gave the next system message auf Deutsch. Natürlich! :D

Yep, there we go! The languages specified definitely mean a keyboard is included.

This is very exciting stuff, love this kind of news !! :)

Can anyone remember why apparently the new Macbook and Macbook Pro's were not introduced at Macworld 2008 ? There was a bit of information getting around as to why, and from what I remember, the reason behind it was that Apple wanted the Macbook Air to be in the spot light for the majority of this year........

Now that the Air has had its fair share of publicity, bring on the Macbook and Macbook Pro's Apple !!

Well since you are all posting your professional and well-conceived notions about the possible six, I have decided to contribute mine. Each new model comes in standard and enhanced models.

1, 2) A new model of Mac notebook; 13" x 13" x 1", it flips out like a T-Mobile Sidekick. Featuring revolutionary all-touch virtual keyboard and trackpad. And Bluetooth.

3, 4) A revision of the MacBook Air; Jobs takes it another step by removing the hard drive, drastically reducing the width and weight. The Air will have to wirelessly access the hard drive of another computer via WiFi in order to save its work. When out of WiFi range, the Air runs on a massive 8GB of very volatile RAM.

5, 6) MacBook Pro revision; featuring a BluRay SuperComboDrive, 20-inch 16:9 multitouch screen, glass trackpad, built-in iPhone and iPod docks, 3G receiver, and Intel 8.27GHz septuple-core processors.
Also, it weighs as much as your dad.
