and still only 4 RAM slots for each CPU. pathetic -.-
Not to mention the fact that every iMac now ships with 4GB for under 2K and the base Pro only has 3GB for 2.5K.
Pitiful. 1066 doesn't cost that much.

I can't find anything that lists prices for the various processor upgrades. Options are in a popup window at http://www.apple.com/macpro/specs.html, but no prices (and if you follow the link to configure at the Apple Store, you only get the old models).
I'm thinking the sweet spot for price/performance for me might be the 3.33x6 single processor ... assuming it's a bit less pricey than the base octo. But I don't see any prices yet.
A 512 SSD will send this price into the stratosphere.
Well as the three Xeon 3000 processors have the same list price as the three previous ones you can expect to be paying $1,200 for that upgrade. Maybe more, maybe less, but I'd guess in the $1000-$1400 range.
At $600 for the 256GB model, yeah I'd think so.
Do we know what the std RAM spec is, still 6GB for the 8 core?
Holy crap those are expensive computer. My hackintosh cost me < 1,000 and while my i7-930 isn't a XEON processor, I didn't spend 2,500.
Could this "new" Mac pro be just the current MacPro4,1 with a reflashed EFI firmware??????
In Germany they've put up the already horrendous value Quad Core another 100. Oh well. At least more 2008s should wing their way onto eBay as their AppleCares expire.
Only the 5870 seems lame specially when the 6000 series are coming out in the next 2 months.
Here's hoping the new Radeons will be available separately, and that they'll work in Mac Pro 1,1.

For that price I was hoping for more of an improvement in features, i.e., e-sata, usb 3.0, more drive bays. My sub-grand hackintosh has these.
I don't see apple moving too many of the 12 core models
