New Mac Pro - Coming August

When in August?

What I'm hoping with the $200 increase in the Octad is to give it more separation from the Hex core SP model (3.33GHz). Assuming this is the case, and they don't go crazy over the price of that system (i.e. keep it at the same cost or similar to the current 3.33GHz Quad), it will become a "sweet spot" in the lineup.

That's the pricing I'm waiting for.

Also, has anyone seen any clarification when in August these beasts are supposed to arrive? "August" could be anywhere from 5 days to 5 weeks from now.

I am definitely wondering this too! After rereading the MacRumors post about the new MP, the end of it made it sounds like early August, but maybe thats just me. I also saw someone on another forum talk about August 9th and nobody said anything against that...... The weird part is that's not a Tuesday, its a Monday.

But iLife is a consumer app. I'd put my money for iLife '11 to debut in Sept w/ the new iPods.

If they were nice enough to tell us the month, you would have thought that they might as well state the date. I don't even know whey they are not ready now. There is really very little changed here. I have to assume either the vid cards were not ready (mac versions) or the hex chips were not in enough quantities. They should have just let us pre-order them.

Agreed. Giving us a release date and actual prices for the upgrade options (especially to the 6-core model) would be a customer-friendly thing to do. Apple is nothing if not customer-friendly, especially to pro users.
