I’ve never seen the point in larger screened laptops. Always wanted the smallest possible for portability and external display at home … i wish apple would just put a damn M2 in he iMac this season lol
Fit more stuff to view at once, side by side at a decent res..

We get it … it’s coming and we can’t wait as this is a dream machine for me ever since the first MBA was released … but hopefully with more than 2 usb port …
Two ports is enough for me as long as it remains thin and light. Definitely looking forward to this one!

If the starting price is 2000+ and the same 2 ports there's going to be allot ALLOT of disappointed people
I imagine Apple would be the only company in the market selling a 15" laptop with only 2 USB-C ports. They really need USB-C on BOTH sides, even on their 13" Air.

I really hope Apple goes for a decent screen for the 15 inch Air. A quality Pro-Motion IPS would be perfect and still slot under the Mini-LED Pro screens.

Pricing is going to be interesting - Apple tends to use screen size to differentiate the range so we can expect it to be more expensive than the 13 inch M2 Air, but that already quickly gets into 14 inch Pro territory once you add a few upgrades, which will be an even bigger problem for a 15 inch Air assuming a higher base price.

"series" is the key word here... (MR even used quotes)

If they release more than one size, that means a new 13" as well (maybe a 12"?) - and that would mean an M3 as upgrade to M2.

The M1 took 7 months to go from TSMC volume production to shipping M1 products. That would mean M3s in July.

Announce at WWDC and ship in July?

All of that is IF they use the TSCM 3nm node that entered volume production in 12/22 (N3B?). I would have thought most Apple M3 products would be TSMCs N3E node - which, per the interweb, still hasn't entered volume manufacturing (2H23).

Wrong - the M2 MacBook Air is still considered brand new - you won't be getting another 13" MBA this year - they'll probably update it, with the 15" to the M3 in the fall of 2024.

Hate to break it to you but, the 15" MBA is not going to be any lighter than the 14" MBP.
Sometimes it’s more about balance and the distribution of weight. A long and thinner laptop could be easier to hold and may ‘feel’ lighter even if it’s the same weight as a shorter and thicker device. Not saying it’s the case here but it could be. Only one way to know for sure.

It's where the center of gravity is. If the weight is distributed toward the hinge where you hold it, it will be easier to handle. Heck speaking of handle, make a handle flip out from the bottom to make it even easier. I never understand why so many bulky product boxes don't have handles.

I just hope Apple finally realizes that a "nicer screen" need not be a "Pro machine only" feature.

Almost everyone can appreciate and often would pay for a nicer screen, especially when you compare them side by side at stores.

MBA M2 screens look ok in isolation ... until you use a 14" MBP right next to it
😬

This will be a hit with me! I switched to the MacBook Air from a 15 inch MB Pro because I wanted a lightweight laptop. My 2020 M1 MB Air has met and exceeded all my expectations! However, I do miss the larger screen. The new MB Pro's are battle tanks and not practical for travel IMHO.
