If TSMC started volume production of 3nm (M3?) in December of 2022 and Apple already has some quantity in stock and probably plenty by July. I don't see how they'd sit on them until 2024.
It would be nice if there were some 3nm M3’s on the way but we don’t know yet which chips TSMC has been building. Is it A-series chips or M-series or chips for someone else? I’m still hoping the the new Mac Pro will be one of the first Macs to get an M3 gen chip.

Because it doesn't work to the release schedule - they'll only just finish releasing the M2 processors this year - it's already messy enough having the M1 as the most powerful processor in the portfolio, they're not going to make that worse by STILL having it as the most powerful processor in the portfolio AND having an M3 out at the same time. The release schedule is about 18 months for each system now, and that's a sensible schedule to stick it, it's irrelevant where TSMC's process is.

That won't happen, it always starts at the bottom and works up - they're not going to start with the highest. The Mac Pro will be the first to get an M2 Ultra or eqiv. The highest end M3 won't be here until 2025.

lets see how light it really is. will certainly stick with my 16 inch macbook pro but interested to see on price.

You certainly have no doubt about things nobody in these forums knows... must be nice!

Indeed, I sell these things for a living, most of what they do is business common sense - which most people on this forum don't have as general consumers, nor would I expect them to. The AS release schedule and time frame is well established now. If i'm wrong about any of it i'll be happy for you to tell me so but it'll be this or very close - I kept saying on all the posts on here the M2 Pro/Max would come out last year that it definitely wouldn't come out in 2022, since the so called "in the know" people this site continual quotes were saying it from about May last year. There were WAY too many delays with the M1 Max/Pro for them to even consider launching them any earlier than this year. Even end of Jan when they did was probably a bit earlier than they wanted to considering you couldn't get M1 Max CTOs freely until about August last year.

As a MacBook Air 2020 and 2010 daily users,
Our planet is too windy and cat to make and design a light MacBook air
that's why  makes those iPad thingeees, for the lightness of under bearing!

Wrong - the M2 MacBook Air is still considered brand new - you won't be getting another 13" MBA this year - they'll probably update it, with the 15" to the M3 in the fall of 2024.
Maybe an M3 MBA in First quarter 2024? A Fall release would be 27 months after first M2.
