New Macbook and MBP Orders - Post and share your excitement!

MB arrived today...

I paid for second day air shipping, but it shipped from TN and tracking showed it was on local Fedex truck by 0600 this morning. Asked a neighbor to put a note on my door, and the Fedex dude gave it to him around Noon....
 
Ordered a base MBP at 8:20 Pm and it is already preped to ship at 8:30. I spent alot of time on Mac forums today, and is it true that the base models for the east coast are shipping from Kentucky or something? It said I could have it by 3PM tomorrow!!!! I got overnight, and saved $100 as a student. Has anyone else signed up for the free ipod offer that ends today!!!!!:D
 
Ordered a 2.8 MBP 15 with the 320gb 7200 drive, its arriving between the 20th and 24th, I hope the 20th.
 
Wow, I almost wish I'd gone pre-configured, but I know in the long run I'll be happier having exactly what I want... but still!

I didn't think the free iPod deal was going on....?

Just ordered the new MB 2.0 w/ a 250GB HD + Remote.
I also got the 99 dollar printer so I can just get my money back and throw it up on eBay for some quick bank.
Can't wait till it gets here.
 
I ordered a 2.0 GHz MB with upgraded RAM (actually a reasonable price for DDR3, especially relative to other prices in Canada). Since there are much better prices out there on HDs, I will upgrade the HD myself to a 7200 rpm and put the stock drive into a USB-powered external case. I ordered while the store was still showing that the 2 GHz model had a backlit keyboard, so I wonder how Apple will handle this if I complain if it does not come with a backlit keyboard as advertised (I saved each page of the ordering process as PDF, and each page clearly indicates that the keyboard is backlit; I noticed that this has been changed on the store today).

I got my FedEx Tracking #!!!!!!!!!

Now...what to do while I wait. Study for a midterm tomorrow. But all I can think about is..."MACBOOK! MACBOOK! MACBOOK! MACBOOK! MACBOOK!"
 
I went to the Apple store to check out the new models, they had just brought out the display MBP a few minutes after we got there. Simply amazing. The glass, the solidity of the new case, the quality of the metal, the design and attention to detail of the new case and the LED screen; it is miles and miles ahead of the PC notebook market in terms of quality and style. I am really pleased with the quality of their new systems, and am pleased to plop down the extra doe for Apple's products. When we got home, I placed my order! Woot!

I have no idea why, maybe because i live in california? i had to pay the same fee when i got my hp laptop from hp
 
I want to order a 2.4 GHz MacBook.. Should i get the standard 2 GB Ram or upgrade to 4 GB ??

I intend use Parallel or Fusion, so will a 2GB be enough? or upgrade??

Same exact problem on my end. How should we handle this? What can we get for this? I'm a little upset actually.

They'll probably tell you that you can either return the computer if you're not "satisfied" (because it doesn't have the backlight) or (if the order hasn't shipped and they're on top of things) they'll tell you that you can upgrade to the top-end model if you pay the extra $$$.

I don't think anyone should expect they can "game" the system and get a backlit keyboard on the 2 Ghz model. If you don't like what you get, you can return it. Maybe they'll waive the fee, but that's about it.
 
Fit and finish of the new cases look amazing. Since I prefer glossy, the lack
of a matte option matters not. If my MB wasn't just 6 months old I'd put in an order-maybe the next generation.

The new DDR3 ram is actually for the first time on par with mkt prices.
4GB for $150 is only 10 bucks more than OWC (with shipping and the trouble/risk its a wash).

The $1599 MB (love the lit keyboard option) would be my choice-rather put the extra $500-1000 toward s external monitor and have a more portable machine.

So would you say it's actually worth upgrading the RAM with Apple then? I was planning on getting the lowest spec MBP and upgrading hard drive and RAM myself but maybe it'll work out the same? In the UK you add on £100 extra ($173 USD) to go from 2GB to 4GB. Good deal here, or no? Sorry, I have no idea about these things, I'm a bit new to all this.

Except that if you buy from OWC, not Apple, you get to keep the extra 2GB. Upgrading @ Apple is like giving Apple your 2GB of RAM for free. Steve Jobs should send all the upgraders thank you notes.

you guys should get apple care too. I have a few laptops for the agency and they keep breaking after 1 1/2 years here and there.

Might be worth the investment, apple picks them up and shipping is also covered.
