12" Macbook width is 28,05 cm and Caison's case width shows 32 cm.. seems a bit loose?

I hope you guys are joking about putting on a case..? It's not like you're gonna drop your Mac....

I think a sleeve is best...

If any of you guys know a case that would fit the new MacBook that opens landscape et that is waterproof (in case my water bottle breaks) let me know :)

I have an 11" Air Muzetto bag from sfbags that should fit the new 12" rMB based on the measurements shown on Apple's website. I so hope it does because I paid a bunch for it a few years ago and I don't want to have to buy it again... And it's just an amazing bag! And the black leather still looks great even after a few years of almost daily use.

I usually go with radtech for very thin felt-like sleeves that fit the laptop snugly and use their keyboard protectors as well. This is mostly just to prevent scratches, not to prevent any shock-type damage--that's what the Muzetto is for.

Again why such bulky bag when you demand an ultra thin notebook from Apple. Moreover in one of the video's they still used a sleeve for an Ipad to go in the back seems a bit to much. The radtech seems the best solution to me since it is really ultra thin.

Oh the Mincase ones look perfect, except the list page says $69 and the product page says $79

The Radtech one would probably be good for my iPad mini - my current sleeve is way too bulky for my taste.

I'd like a booq viper case for the 12" macbook. It's magnetic so no zippers to scratch the case plus it's great for leaving in a bag and extracting the macbook.

I just got a reply from Booq about the viper case... :(

Dear Bibyfok,

We are planning a few 12-inch version of our sleeves for the new MacBook. The first ones should be the Mamba sleeves and the Taipan spacesuits. The Viper series will be redesigned a bit beforehand, so those will take a while until they become available.

Kind Regards,

EDIT:
The Hardcase is fully compatible with the Retina Macbook according to Booq US website. There is a promo on Amazon France (so anyone in EU can order it using google Translate) and I just purchased it for 20€ !!! A bargain !!! I just cancelled my impulsive ebay purchase from last night (Caison).

darn... that was my favorite so far of the cases/sleeves listed here.

I also liked the Cobra sling but the interior dimensions won't fit the rMB. I hope they make one of these for it.

I think the sides are a bit more rounded so whilst it's not a snug fit, I don't think it's meant to be super tight. Anyway, it's cheap and available. If it isn't any good when I get my Mac I'll buy something better.

Got the SFBags rMB case today, shipped Tuesday USPS from SF and arrived here in Boston today. Beautiful stuff, as always. I have to say that you guys have introduced me to several other makers of really attractive cases in this thread. Here's hoping the rMB lives up to the cases people are lining up!

May 15? No thanks! These guys are notoriously slow, and overpriced, and it provides no protection whatsoever.

People don't seem to read the specs. The measurements are almost identical to that of the 11"... they simply pushed the screen into the bezel to keep the body the same size.

Almost any 11" Air case will work just fine for the Macbook 12"

Just picked this up:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-MacBook-12-Retina-Sleeve-Case-SIMPLE-BLACK-UP-/281624154412?

Will let you guys know what I think when I get it. About $13 at the current exchange rate.

Lots of sellers making bank advertising their 11" Air cases as Macbook 12" cases because people like you don't realize the dimensions are almost the identical dimensions, making just about any 11" Air case compatible without any modification.

I'm in the wrong business. LOL

Agreed, but I would be careful with some fitted sleeves, especially those with the opening on the small side (landscape), and some with a zipper on the long side if they're the fitted kind.

Agreed. Zippers and aluminium (Ive) don't mix.

Just ordered my sleeve from Joli Originals, got the blue leather limited this time.
Now how long until it's Friday? :)

Picking up one of these. They're cheap and the embossed logo caught my eye.

Yup!

Those are the only two places I've purchased from in the last ten years or so.

I think I recall people posting that they had dust/grit/etc. getting trapped between the plastic and the aluminum, which resulted in a lot of small scratches.

Ive never had a scratch on mines but dust and dirt does get trapped i usually take it off to clean it once every few weeks to clean the insides but i like it cause it keeps my spiral note books and pencils from scratching it up incase I decide to sell my MBA
