Possible?

If you read this:
https://www.macrumors.com/2009/02/11/core-i7-nehalem-based-macbook-pros-possible-in-q4-2009/

coupled with todays discovery:
https://www.macrumors.com/2009/10/25/unreleased-macbook-pro-61-and-62-referenced-in-mac-os-x-10-6-2/

Add in a little optimism, a spoon full of sugar, some toe of camel, cross your fingers, hope to die etc....maybe its possible by Nov. Apple is already offering quad cores in the new imac at 2.8GHz. A pre-Christmas release of a spectacular upgrade is probably a big incentive for Apple. The blu-ray bag-o-hurt Mr. Jobs mentioned a while ago hopefully has been resolved. It has been 8 months since this:

http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/apple-actively-courting-sony-for-slot-loading-blu-ray-drives/

so you would think Apple could get its act together by now.

Those of us who were holding out for an :apple: macbook pro since the unibody was released without blu-ray can only hope....:D

THE THREAD WAS CREATED NINE MONTHS AGO!!!

Don't hold your breathe for Blu-Ray.

From my understanding, the quad core chip in the new iMac is not laptop material...its actually a desktop cpu.

You know the craziest thing? He was right about the card reader :D. Course it came in June, but...

Good point. But the SSD as the standard option is out of the question. And Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters? I wish!

Why, for the love of all that's holy, is this thread 5 pages long?

I don’t think a noobie’s thread filled with wild guesses has received this much attention!

hahaha

Leaked from a friend, who is a prophet and predicts the future for everyone in our village.

why is anyone actually taking this seriously?!?! It's a joke! The poster even says it is.

LOL

I would like this set up though, except the 1920x1200 screen. I have one and it hurts my eyes : P

Leaked from a friend, who is a prophet and predicts the future for everyone in our village.

Hehe, he even reveals he's trolling, and 3 pages later people still takes the bait.

Ok,ok...Your logic is as vast as an armpit.

Yes, 9 months ago. You do realize it takes a little longer than a week or two from planning to get to manufacturing and finally to market, don't you?
Apple does communicate with Intel in the planning stages of the product to find out what processor will be available, don't you think? If quad core is available now at 2.8GHz in the imac, why wouldn't apple be shooting for that as a goal in the MBP back then?
I'm sure the specs quoted were max optional specs, not standard price and the price quoted was with no upgrades. With regard to the SSD, maybe they thought prices would come down more than they have but when you plan things -- at times -- you have to revise your plans.

About your blu-ray comment, I realize that Apple is so backwards that they want to do the opposite of every other company out there....such as creating the most innovative products while not ever releasing blu-ray capable computers or software.

Oh wait: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/whats-new.html

"Use this convenient feature to export your file to iTunes for syncing with iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV; publish to YouTube or MobileMe;1 or burn a Blu-ray disc or a DVD, with a choice of Apple-designed menu templates. You can also create custom presets in Compressor for use in the Share window.

It has to be included some time, no? There are slot load blu-ray burners for apple to buy now, right?

I'm not saying its all true or accurate, but its not impossible.

One more thing, this is from August:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/53336-35-apple-update-imac-macbook-lineup-autumn
He was wrong with the timing but right with the imac specs.

I smell bull****.

I agree with you on some of it. No way in hell Apple is rolling MBPs with i7M @ 3.06 GHz with dual GTX 280M. Not happening. And SLI? Go back to WindowsVistaforums.com. SLI and Mac do not belong in the same sentence. I can see a i5M and a GTX 280M on the 17" model, not sure about the 15". As for the 8GB ram, that is very possible, as the newer iMac that sports the i5/i7 has 4 SO-DIMM slots, versus the standard two, so Apple would have to reengineer the logic board to allow for more memory (possibly solder 4GB to the board, and allow for 2 SO-DIMMS to be filled?). Being that the i7/i5 cpus on the new iMacs (with the exception of the quad core) are laptop based and soldered to the board (as they always are), we are going to see them being used in the high end MBPs until Apple completly transtions to the i5/i7 (and sometime in there, the i3 and i9). What someone should do is check out that plist file and see what it says there, hopefully someone can confirm what the mbps will have.

Why? - Proove the 0% Chance.

completely fake.

No way. Blu-Ray is 0% chance.
This is just a joke from a MR newbie

Do you know this as a fact or are you blowing more air out the side of you chair? Back up your statement with fact. Are you working for apple on this product? Saying 0% chance silly.

You sound like you're bitter because you waited 15 generations after you bought your powerbook to invest in your 15", 2.8 GHz just a few months ago and you want that one to stay the newest and best available. You are probably also kicking yourself because you could have got a quad core for the same price had you waited one more generation.

Apple likes planned obsolescence but to not include something that is the new standard forever? They can't hold out much longer.
