Downloaded the page incase Apple decides to invoke the NDA ban hammer on Geek Bench

First off the only pro machines are the ones with express slots. So last gen15 and present 17". Further. All the pro software, 3rd party plugins for logic, after effects, motion, final cut and Photoshop just aren't there yet. Still a ways off. Every PRO in the biz runs tiger or leopard. And ironically, leopard with the tiger background. Lol. It won't be stable and everyone caught up until at least 10.6.5-7. Still to many crashes.

Well, fortunately Apple always filters out Intels Naming, even Intels logos. So the noise wont reach the end customers. My current machine features a "2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo" according to Apple.

This won't help this time.

We are gonna have:

- i7 on iMacs (Quad Core, 2.8ghz, Desktop CPU, 45nm, 85W) [Lynnfield]

- i7 on HP Envy 15" (Quad Core, 1,6ghz, Destkop Replacement CPU, 45nm, 45W, poor battery life, better performance) [Clarksfield]

- i7 on Macbook Pros (Dual Core, 2,60ghz, Laptop CPU, 32nm, 35W) [Arrandale]

And they are 3 completely different CPUs.

Maybe some people will buy a 2,6ghz i7 MBP thinking to get nearly the power of a 2,8ghz i7 iMac. Actually the will get way less.

Hmm.

I have the launch unibody 15" MBP. Was thinking about getting an ipad for lounging around, and an iMac for 'real' computing. I'm annoyed with my MBP battery life - this was before they did the 7 hour battery.

But if these new ones are real and out soon, would it make sense to go with one of those instead? Assuming people are getting real life 4-5 hours from the new batteries, that would be usable. Right now I can't get through a full evening on the battery which is limiting its usefulness.

The new batteries are terrific. I got the girlfriend a 13inch MBP summer past and I never see her charge the thing, she spends her time watching foreign movies streamed online so that has to be pretty battery intensive. I have an older MBP and you daren't be away from a mains socket for too long..

based on this new leak, and assuming its true, how long do you all think we'll be waiting for this update?

My prediction is that the Apple online store will go down exactly three days from now and two hours later it will be up and running with new Macbook Pros.

Heh, my unibody Macbook Pro got about 3000, so 5000 is a good speed bump. Still pales in comparison to my i7 hackintosh, which scored around 13,000 points 😀

My duel core iMac gets 2698. Compared to 5260, is 3 years worth of improvement good? I am no expert in these things.

this is my hope as well

ahh, hope this happens. only speculated getting a mbp 2 days ago!!

got till march 29th before i commit to anything.
hopefully theyupdate the 13"😀

I am hoping that the update happens somewhat soon as I want to get a MBP 13 inch real soon 😀

And Intel continues its long tradition of using extremely stupid and confusing "code" names for its products and roadmap...

Good chips, but they should just shut up in that regard...Yonah anyone? 🙄

Given that macworld expo is being held on the 9th, is it likely that the new macbook pros will be announced then? 😀

wo.

interesting, this could turn out an expensive month 😉 provided i have the money!

would be amazing to get one of these.. would fit perfectly with my i7 imac 😀

Now I'm no expert...

But shouldn't it show "N/A" under the "FSB" category? I thought that was the whole point of the nehalem architecture?

I'm a little disappointed with Intel's new mobile chip lineup. After mobile processors being nearly as fast and feature compatible as desktop counterparts for the last few years, I was expecting quad cores to be the norm. A 2.66GHz Dual Core i7 will probably be on roughly a par with a 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo on the whole.

Of course, there are the Core i7-920XM Extreme Edition chips but they're insanely expensive and have a comparatively slow clock speed.

My guesses are that the 17" MacBook Pro will have the 920XM or a faster unreleased quad core as an option.

I don't think I'd switch to a Core i7 based MacBook Pro for at least a generation. The battery life of mobile iX laptops compared to C2D laptops hasn't impressed me all to much yet. It feels a little like Intel's getting too big for its Watts again, the Core i7 mobile reminds me far too much of the P4 mobile. If AMD want a hope of survival then they should concentrate on a high performance per watt chip for laptops and try to emulate the breakthrough Intel had with their Centrino platform.

ip-number

Would it be possible for Geekbench to trace the ip-number to see where the result was submitted from?
