That test was ran on 32-bit Geekbench so I think it would've ben over 6000 with 64-bit.

My guesses below:

13" MacBook
$999 Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz) and/or P8700 (2.53GHz)

13" MacBook Pro
$1199 Core i3 330M (2.13GHz)
$1399 Core i3 350M (2.26GHz)

15" MacBook Pro
$1499 Core i5 520M (2.4GHz)
$1899 Core i5 540M (2.53GHz) + dedicated GPU
$2199 Core i7 620M (2.66GHz) + dedicated GPU

17" MacBook Pro

$2499 Core i7 620M (2.66GHz) + dedicated GPU
$2599 Core i7 720QM (1.6GHz) + dedicated GPU (only BTO)
$2899 Core i7 820QM (1.73GHz) + dedicated GPU (only BTO)

Just my guess but 17" can handle Clarksfield

i5 also for the 13" MBP, there is no reason why they should ship it with the i3.
The i3 is for the MacBooks.

Alright alright, I did the geekbench test on my Powerbook G4 guess what I got:

Man, that's fast...

Isn't the C2D coming to EOL in the summer? Eventually the Macbook is going to need to move to the new Core ix series. I hope they put the Core i3 in the Macbook, and use the Core i5s for the MBP 13" and up. Otherwise we're back at square one with the Macbook not being all that different from the MPB 13".

The first real leak.

The "unofficial waiting for arrandale thread", with its 500 pages of posts, had NONE.

I doubt Apple would have the chutzpah to release a 15" MBP without discrete graphics. It may be a BTO option on the 13" if they can shoe horn one in.

I have my wallet out ready for the mid priced 15". I hope they manage to keep the 7hr battery.

wouldn't the i3 be faster/better than the current MBP 13" 2.26 and 2.53?

maybe they'll just go the i3 in the MBP 13" then later on update the MB to i3 and we'd be in the same boat as we're in now with regards to MBP being nearly identical spec wise to MB.

Just run Geekbench on my Jan 2009 = 2.93GHz MacBook Pro

32bit Geekbench score of = 4076
64bit Geekbench score of = 4438

So new i7's even though are clocked lower run significantly faster which is a good thing :)

I love it! Speed demon! I wonder what my 12" 1GHz PB (still in daily use) will get?!

Ps- have you maxed out your RAM? I have 1.25Gb installed.

Do you know if Geekbench results vary depending on which OS or does it just test the hardware?

I wouldn't want an i7 in my MacBook; currently they only work when tethered to a power outlet, unless you're fine with a 1 hour battery life. (e.g. there is no mobile version of the i7 yet)

The m620 _is_ the mobile version of the i7. And with the new mobile processors that Intel has released, i7, i5 and i3 are meaningless names - you have to check number of cores, number of threads, cache size and clock speed.

Thing is, I don't know how easy it is to forge Geekbench scores, so this is either real or someone's joke.

I have a current 17" 2.8 GHz Macbook Pro and my Geekbench Score is 3916. Apperently my model has scores up to 4236.

The fastest current model gets a score of 4774. The 5260 is a nice improvement over the current fastest models. I wouldn't call home about it so.

Btw - the MacPro has scores up to 15071 :D

Thank you Intel for F*CKED UP naming.

i7 Clarksfield (45nm quad core, 45-55W battery sucker) VS i7 Arrandale (32nm dual core, 35W and energy efficient) will be a recurring misunderstanding.

Well, fortunately Apple always filters out Intels Naming, even Intels logos. So the noise wont reach the end customers. My current machine features a "2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo" according to Apple.

Finally some cool news :)

Love the i7 - of course - and want it in 15" flavour!

Saying all that, I am equally - if not more so - interested in what graphics card options will be available with new MBP.

Combination of GPU and CPU is what matters to me...

My 2.53 Summer 2009 Macbook Pro (no dedicated GPU) gets around 3500 on the Geekbench score, so the new Pros are a decent upgrade comparatively.

I know the Geekbench in the article was for the 2.66 but
they can't be THAT different.

anyhow, i don't really care too much about the upcoming update. i got my MBP this past summer (around 7months ago) and it is simply AMAZING. Im as excited about my 7 month old laptop as the day i got it :p

i think i will wait like 2 more years to get a new laptop
a new one every 3 years seems reasonable!

There must be a Macbook Pro model with i7 quad too in the pipeline. Whats impressive with a duocore portable nowadays?
