No one is talking about the most import part of this leak...that actually geekbench numbers for this system.

How do they stack up to geekbench scores of current systems?

Yes they are talking about it. Someone mentioned a 24% increase in performance and MacRumors.com has this number:

MacRumors.com said:
The final benchmark score of 5260 compares favorably to identically clocked (2.66GHz) shipping MacBook Pros (3700-4000).

I wouldn't want an i7 in my MacBook; currently they only work when tethered to a power outlet, unless you're fine with a 1 hour battery life. (e.g. there is no mobile version of the i7 yet)

Thank you Intel for F*CKED UP naming.

i7 Clarksfield (45nm quad core, 45-55W battery sucker) VS i7 Arrandale (32nm dual core, 35W and energy efficient) will be a recurring misunderstanding.

This brings me new hope for waiting and not buying the current one!
I hope that's the benchmark of the low end 13"!

Is there any way to determine the graphics system used in this MBP? Does anything show what the graphics performance is on this machine? Can we compare that to the last MBP?

Im surprised, I purchased a new sony vaio last week with the i7 and it came with the 1333 memory ... I thought that the new 2010 chips needed that speed.

1067 is enough lol. PPL would complaing that their ram from last month didn't works in new MBP. I work in a shop and there are users that wants last tech i every things inside their mac and others who think "changes" are a way to steal their $$. So i think Apple upgrade if necessary.... 1067Mhz is super fast, no need 1333Mhz.... but it is just my opinion.

I hope this is real and soon! I have been wanting a Macbook Pro for the longest time! I need a 13" with AT LEAST a core i3.

i3 for the 13"
i5 for the 15"
i7 for the 17"
makes sense but we all want an i9 on the 13" and a nuclear reactor on the 17"

My predictions for the refresh

This is what I think will happen:

Current 13"
$1200 - 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo
$1500 - 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo

Future 13"
$1200 - 2.13GHz Core i3-350M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$1500 - 2.26GHz Core i3-350M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB

Current 15"
$1700 - 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo
$2000 - 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo
$2300 - 2.80GHz Core 2 Duo
$2600 - 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo

Future 15"
$1700 - 2.26GHz Core i3-350M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$2000 - 2.40GHz Core i5-520M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$2300 - 2.53GHz Core i5-540M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$2600 - 2.66GHz Core i7-620M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 4MB L3, 1066 FSB

Current 17"
$2500 - 2.80GHz Core 2 Duo
$2800 - 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo

Future 17"
$2500 - 2.53GHz Core i5-540M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$2800 - 2.66GHz Core i7-620M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 4MB L3, 1066 FSB

Clarksfield's TDP's are too high for MacBook Pro's.

Future 13"
$1200 - 2.13GHz Core i3-350M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
$1500 - 2.26GHz Core i3-350M, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3MB L3, 1066 FSB
I hope so!...that'd be awesome

so the consensus is that apple will keep the same price as current models if/when the new models come out?

I wonder if that will mean the 13" Macbook Pro will be updated soon… Hopefuly very soon because my student id expires in a few weeks and I'm looking to upgrade

It's also good to see that the Macbooks series will be updated from the Core 2 Duo :p

I was just looking for that comparison and found this:

MacBook Pro (15/17-inch Mid 2009) 3.06 GHz Intel Core2 Duo T9900 http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/208419
This result says that the 3.06 GHz version scores 4634 vs the i7's 5260 (if its real)

Well, the problem with comparing those two, and actually the amazing part, is that the C2D CPU is 3.06GHz while the Core i7 is 2.66GHz. So it's getting over 20% improvement with a 400MHz drop in clock speed! That's actually pretty incredible. It's almost too good to be true...

I still wish we had some indication of graphics used in the MBP6,1.

Hmm.

I have the launch unibody 15" MBP. Was thinking about getting an ipad for lounging around, and an iMac for 'real' computing. I'm annoyed with my MBP battery life - this was before they did the 7 hour battery.

But if these new ones are real and out soon, would it make sense to go with one of those instead? Assuming people are getting real life 4-5 hours from the new batteries, that would be usable. Right now I can't get through a full evening on the battery which is limiting its usefulness.
