My fellow Brits and EU neighbours, grab your Macs now while you can as once these new M2 Pro macs are introduced, expect significant price rises across the board on all Macs in the line up. I'm dithering between the M2 Air or M1 Pro 14" at the moment with decent discounts on Amazon UK.

Still confusing, how does the Max have 1 CPU, the Max also have 2 CPU and the Extreme has 4 CPU? Where'd the Ultra go?
Sorry it was a typo, the Ultra has two CPUs. It goes M (1 standard size CPU), M Pro (1 Bigger CPU), M Max (1 even Bigger CPU), Ultra (Two Max CPUs), Extreme (four Max CPUs).

Yeah there's gonna be another outpouring anger when MBP prices increase by £400-£600, and obviously the highest end models even more.
Looks like the price increase alone will justify the flight to the US to pick one of these babies up over there, even with the Kwazi special exchange rate.

Do you go to Delaware or New Hampshire or maybe just some airport booth to get your sales tax refunded?

If 16" M2 pro will be a pound lighter, I may go for it. Or I'm gonna stick with mine until I won't get OS upgrades anymore.

Hopefully its clear that it can be a little confusing and belittling someone doesn't really make sense at least. Even fixed your two comments still have different figures for what the CPU count is (max was 1/2 CPU, now its 1 CPU). Its just a silly naming structure that leads to these issues.

If the new Mini can do 3 monitors, I'm in.

I don't know why Apple has such a hard freaking time with monitors. You'd think the most basic part of a computer, the display, would be simple in 2022. Yet most of the new Macs can only do 2 screens for some stupid reason. And here my 2018 Mini is still doing 3.

Even that has been a challenge though. Virtually EVERY OS update breaks my monitors and I'm playing whack-a-mole unplugging and plugging them in to get all 3 working again.

10 year old Windows box, never had an issue at all with 3 monitors. Apple can't seem to figure it out.
apple cares about its customers, knows very well that only few can afford more than two monitors

I was looking forward to getting an M2 Mac Mini but after seeing the price hikes for the iPads I don't think I will bother anymore. It's getting a lot harder to justify any Apple products for people in Europe.

I expect the M2 Mac Mini to start at ~£1,049 for a pathetic 8GB/256GB model. I really need at least 16GB/512GB so probably looking at £1,449 for such a model.

i was almost thinking about getting an M2 Air but it makes no sense with my M1 iPad Pro. I need a desktop PC. I suppose I would be fine with an M1 Mac Mini but at this point I don't want to be buying 2 year old hardware.

M2 Pro Mini ... that's the sweet spot!

I forsee an Apple mini collection in your future ;)
I'm thinking of getting this right now, I have a Windows notebook running Windows 11 and its just really crappy right now, especially with dual monitors. My MBP M1 only supports one external monitor, so a M2 Pro Mini would probably make a good drop in replacement.

An unfashionable product maybe but I’m hoping for an M2 24 inch iMac. I may even dare hope for USB C charging ports on the keyboard and trackpad after common sense has prevailed with the Apple TV remote. I don’t dare however imagine the price increase in the UK

Not quite. The CPU between the Pro and Max is the same, the Max just has a doubled GPU. So you have:
Mx - Base CPU/GPU
Mx Pro - Bigger CPU/GPU, Doubled RAM
Mx Max - Doubled GPU, Doubled RAM
Mx Ultra - Doubled Max (2x CPU, GPU, and RAM of Max)
Mx Extreme - Quadrupled Max (4x CPU, GPU, and RAM of Max)

The Mac Mini will have a redesign with a plexiglass top, right Jon?
Why would they reveal how little there appears to the eye inside? AS has made the parts on these minuscule, the only thing to really see is a metal plate and green PCB.

The M2 MBP update can't come fast enough.

Mom is overdue for an upgrade.

Yes, I could get her the M1 MBP but -

1 - I never get the first version of new hardware for myself or family. Waiting for v2 usually results in a better long-term experience. I take the same approach with cars, TVs, etc.

2 - At this point, with the M2 likely to arrive soon, buying her an M1 now would likely result in possibly one, maybe two years, less software support than if we wait one more month for the M2 version. Seems wasteful at that point.

So.. come on Apple... Just release the M2 MBP and take my money.

The sooner the better.

Yea, if the new Mini is a fail the Studio was my plan. I'd just rather save half the $$ if I can. Or put the extra cash toward more storage or RAM.
Same - waiting to see what the mini and studio announcements are. I think I will cancel my $139 ATV 64GB rev 2 order for the new $149 128GB ATV. $10 isn't worth worrying about considering how Apple supports these - should gain at least 2 years over the previous revision, and I'm still running 1 ATV HD.
