That looks like an unimaginative mockup. Now this looks like an inspired mockup. http://www.flickr.com/photos/elchinocudeiro/2802517685/

EDIT: Added picture

this is more like it!!

It would be too good to be true. I've been waiting for a worthy replacement for my aging machine since a year now.

This one is available for immediate delivery, if you're so interested. Just remember to take a picture when you get it.

It's just some bored technician's doing...

Bored, or not too bright. They were probably missing an image, so someone told an intern, "Find a MacBook Pro picture and slap it in there," and they didn't bother to check where it came from or whether it was real.

I don't believe that can be real because if it was and it changed that little then it should of already been released.

I dont think its legit, because Apple is current addicted to bezel edges.

Besides the MBP must be matte screen. Professionals (im not one of them) dont like matte screen especially for photo editing. And glossy makes it hard to see in bright condition unless Apple find a way how to make the glossy screen not reflective.

changes i see

The size in proportions are right, if its a 17 inch.
No Camera lens visible,
No "breathing" status light,
No latch, thank god! mine finally is giving me pains, was once nice, but is hard to open now that the pop-up is gone.
No indent from Macbook or Air, so I am going to think they are on the sides of the screen, which is easier to open with anyway! Two points, one to pull down the other to pull up.
The disc drive is correct size, I double checked it on scaling it to a current 17" mac pic
Black screen surround, with less of a drop on the back, judging by the angle of screen so I see a slightly different hinge, maybe the bottom frame is 2 mm shorter so the hinge works a little differently in its proportions.

That is beautiful even if it is a mockup, loving the 'Racoon' look coming from the iMacs.

EDIT: Look closely, do I see white chicklet keys?

Oh God I hope not, or I'll never get a new MBP again. One of my higher up reasons for a MBP over MB was to avoid that HORRIBLE keyboard and glossy screen. I can't stand either of those in the least.

I loathe that keyboard design with a passion. I'm very particular about my keyboards...

I just changed my mind...

I did comment earlier that I was sold on its real. But I just realized one small thing. The screen does not have the menu bar. I don't know if Appeture is possible to hide the menu bar, but now I am no longer sure it is real. The image is pasted on there. So somebody edited this image. Was it Apple... Not so sure any more.

IF that's it I'll be disappointed. Black bezel is almost as bad as a glossy screen. I don't know why Apple is so in love with them.

Oh, yeah, THAT'S the reason it's fake.

Not the fact that it's using the last generation's graphics processor...

Not the fact that there is NO MONTEVINA CPU that is 2.6 GHz...

IT'S. A. FAKE.

I don't think that anyone believes the spacs are for the new system. What we are arguing is this... Where did the marketing guy for a reputable company with good links with Apple get his picture... From a press kit that Apple must be redying for all their partners. Or by being lazy and getting a first picture from the web. So far the score is:

Pros:
- it's a reputable company
- company is in position to have genuine Apple images
- nobody else can find this particuler image on the net, so even if it edited it seems to be internal to T-Systems, but this seems strange for a respectable company

Cons:
- why show 17" mac for 15" ad
- no menu
- no visible camera
- no visible grip for opening even magnetic latch

I don't understand you guys at all. Why are you even talking about this?!?!? Is anyone even contesting the listed specs. In the e-mail I quoted I said that we are talking about the image only, since the specs are clearly old (not new).

Oh, well, then, I'll contest that it looks like a poorly Photoshopped 17" version of a popular 15" mockup that has been floating around.

Oh, GREAT! The page is Error 500 now... people will think that it was Apple Legal.

IT WAS FAKE!

Is it possible that this company had the picture file on their server by mistake? Possibly having it named MBP.jpeg and the HTML is coded to show MBP.jpeg? That would make sense considering the specs are off. I.e., 15", processor speeds...

Fake. Here's why.

Look at the high res picture. Did anybody else notice that the upper corners of the menu are rounded on the screen? This is one of the design elements that Apple changed when they went from Tiger to Leopard. Look at promo shots from any of the "Design" pages in Apple's web site and you will see none of them have this any more.

The order of the icons on the right of the menubar are also different from Apple's promo shots. The order is usually: iChat, Bluetooth, Airport, volume, battery, clock, Spotlight. The order on this one is Bluetooth, battery, Airport, iChat, volume, clock, Spotlight.

This picture did not come from Apple.

Why would they have a mockup or photoshop picture of a MBP on their main site server? It would have no place on there...I just can't see a big business doing something like that.

I wish Apple would just announce the real thing - with great specs, so I can start putting my saliva to good use.

My old MBP is slower than my Air. Come on... I'm ready.
