I know one thing for sure:
This site has gotten allot of attention the past hour.
And since it's a store, I don't think they will mind..

Maybe it's just to get some free publicity: put a fake image on the net for a few hours, and then remove it. If one ask about it, just say it was a mistake.
Simple and it works!

I think it's the real thing. There are little details that make sense for the real thing but not for a mockup:
- The corners at the bottom are more rounded than with the current MBP. However, that's the same as on the DisplayPort website.
- The touchpad is much wider.
- The optical drive sits higher.

I don't think they would do that. It's a store for business customers and it belongs to one of the biggest companies in Germany. So it's not one of those small and shady stores who would need that kind of attention.

Pros:
- it's a reputable company
- company is in position to have genuine Apple images
- nobody else can find this particuler image on the net, so even if it edited it seems to be internal to T-Systems, but this seems strange for a respectable company

Agree with #1.

#2 I disagree with. No retailer gets these images ahead of time. Not even T-Mobile parent company.

I would be super excited about that black bezel. Looks very nice..

Here's hoping because I'm WAY over due for a new model..

FAKE

I quite like it, whether it's fake it not.

I think people are going a bit too far with think how much different the form factor of the MBP will be. The MB will go with the airs slim, tapered look because it won't be runnng higher end parts. I think they will use distinctly lower end parts in the next MacBook, making it cheaper as has been
been rumoured. As a result the spec of the MBP will be significantly more "pro" so the form factor will be roughly the same because of the obvious space needed for the higher spec parts so I'm not expecting a massive difference in appearence.

God I hope that is not the new MBP. I hate those damn plastic edges on the current MBP's. I have one right now and I kinda have a love hate relationship with the thing. I hate the design, but I love the power and that it's portable.

It is interesting that the "specialized image search engine" turned up copies of the image even though it had been photoshopped.

If I remmember correctly this search engine is to check for illigal copies of images that might or might not be slightly changed.
In this way you can check if someone else has taken that image from your website and used it without permission.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

This would be a very easy photoshop job. I doubt it is real but it looks nice if it is.

That's because it's not real.

Oh, it's just the 17" MacBook Pro bottom. That's why it looks "too small".

It *could* be real, and the bottom could be for the new 15". If they shaved some height off the screen they could've thickened the base to allow 12.5mm optical drives (which might confirm BD on the MBP's). You can't really tell, but that might be a silver chiclet keyboard on the top there too.
