This is a really good point.

I thought for a second that maybe the remote had gone Bluetooth, but there would be no reason to do so: Bluetooth sucks down battery life, and IR's only limitation is that it requires line of sight. Since you also need line of sight to, you know, see the movie that you're currently playing in Front Row, Apple is unlikely to consider this a problem worth fixing.

So yeah, I agree.

Errr...

You realize that if you're running front row it will be open. So yes, the IR eye could be in the black screen bezel. After all, what use is it to have a remote for a computer that's asleep?

Nope, since you can connect your computer to an external screen, TV, or projector and run it closed, as most people do for their entertainment (FRONT ROW) setup.

Obviously not a photoshop since all Pros love glossy screen reflections on their screens.

Must be legit.

Please let this be sarcasm...

If this is real, then were does the more aggresive price point come in because the current 2.5ghz MBP is $2,499.00 and this 2.5ghz MBP is $2,463.19. Doesnt seem like that much of a difference in price that it would be worthy of mentioning in all the writeups of the new Macbooks

Yes, this is a Fake, a lot of Big companies hires IT students to update their website and certainly this guy that task was to edit webpages did add his own photoshoped image for fun, a bet with friends or making him famous who never knows. Now that The Company notice that it was online (thank you Mac Rumours) they have delete the entire Mac page to update images before they have problem with customers and Apple INC.

seems to be still up... but i quickly compared pictures of the old/current and this "new" one with preview to check the proportions... there you go... i would really be surprised if apple introduced a new dvd-standard ;P

Fake.

What I heard is that people who edit photos shouldn't use a black border. Macbook Pro users edit photo and video, so I guess it's fake.
On the other hand, photo editors don't like TN screens neither, but that's another story.

Apple store

A friend of mine who works at the Apple store didn't know anything about the new ipods last week until the day they came out.

The one with the black border is actually the 17" model, you can tell by the way the optical drive bay is positioned to the case vs the 15".

It was offline for few minutes now it's again online.
Any clues?

I have a theory.

They were adding a product and needed an image to go along with it. The Google Image search turned up a fan-made mockup, which they gladly snatched and uploaded to their e-commerce software.

What specs do you gentlemen really think are going to be on the new MacBook Pros?

if i had to guess i'd say montevina-chipset and centrino2 cpus supporting 1066GHz FSB, maybe nvidias new 9000 series mobile graphics... both hardware upgrades are quite new though and i'm not too sure apple is willing to introduce em that "early" ... additionally it would be time to think about bluray... but that would include a majour os update and we just received 10.5.5 ... wouldn't be too surprised if apple waited till 10.6. with bluray support... but i would love to be surprised :D

Wouldn't they already have pictures to use? And google seems like it wouldn't be the place to go... meh, what do I know about running a business?

I found only one Mockup from April 2008, firtst thing you get by image-googling Macbook Pro Mockup.

Here's the comparison:

They are soo many differences, basically the same idea but with a different starting point it seems. The color, shape, angle, reflection on the bottom, glossy display etc. all differ.

I challenge you to find that mockup from T-Systems anywhere on the net. Why would someone make a fake mockup for a large online store? Prank?

Not Happening, sorry!

That looks like an unimaginative mockup. Now this looks like an inspired mockup. http://www.flickr.com/photos/elchinocudeiro/2802517685/

EDIT: Added picture

Not happening! Do U think Apple will cannibalize MBA sales by introducing a MBP which has same or better form factor and much much better specs???

Pppl will overlook the little extra weight the MBP will bring relative to MBA when they compare the specs, pricing, etc!

My guess is that they just searched on google for a picture of a future mac.
Maybe they've got signals from Apple to prepare for new MBP, and as a publicity stunt they are already offering to pre-order the thing, just like Amazon does...

Will have MBA LIKE form factor! Bet on it!

BTW the April mockup has a much curvier corners than the one on T-Systems mockup.... It basically has the same form factor as the current MBP.

If we go by the Apple's design trend in its current product line up.... expect to see something that is shaped like MBA but just not as thin(MBP will b a bit more beefy) and a bit more rugged look (unlike fragile look of MBA). If its a better, lighter form factor than MBA then MBA sales will drop to floor.

fake!

i really hope it doesn't get tapered like the air. it'd probably have to sacrifice performance to do that

A friend of mine who works at the Apple store didn't know anything about the new ipods last week until the day they came out.

your friend is probably not a big mac fan...

@ The Tall One...

Hahaha.... Everyone on MacRumors.... and other Mac websites knew about the iPod nano for atleast a couple of weeks before they rolled it out. You sure your friend works at Apple store, he deserves to be at Best Buy or Wallmart if you were serious... :D

I find it interesting that Germans use long words.

Also, do you gentlemen see the new MacBook Pro on September 23rd?

Doesn't Adobe Lightroom essentially have a near-black interface that surrounds the photos?
