The update to the mbp line is coming...

I am unsure of the exact form the mbp will take but a lot of college campuses are starting to recieve new apple products! Straight from a reliable source, not a i heard from a guy that heard from a guy. I feel this refresh to the mb and mbp line is coming way faster than everyone's mythical Oct 14 date. I am definitely saying before Oct 7. Aluminum Macbooks and Macbook pros with an updated keyboard and specs. Not quadcore.

Hi Guys, I am from Austria. First of, for those who don't know, Telekom mainly is an internet, telephone and Television provider. They are not that major labtop selling company, so they are not to be taken too serious about this (though this is no excuse for them). Anyways, German is my mothertongue, I can tell you that this page those not put this away as a joke or mock-up or anything.
In anyway, my father happens to be on the board of Telekom Austria (which is not the same as Telekom Germany, however they obviously belong together). As it is in the middle of the night, I cannot ask him about this, but I will as soon as I can, so tomorrow evening (please note that there is a time difference.) He should then be able to tell me why this is up, where they got the information if it is true, etc..
My personal guess about this is that some idiot in telekom put this up thoughtlessly as a bad joke, or put up a random bad mockup, perhaps he drew it himself, HOWEVER not to put it on as the new version of Macbook Pro, but rather as the current model to sell it. He might have mocked it up for the fun of it. And I doupt that the 5 people that checked the site working there are macfanatics who could tell the difference in the look. BTW, IT DOES NOT SAY ANYWHERE ON THE PAGE THAT THIS IS A NEW MACBOOK! So, in a nutshell, I think this is the current macbook, being normally sold, with and accidental or purpusflully wrong picture of the 15inch macbookpro.
Well, I will ask my father tomorrow (If he doesnt go on a business trip), he should be able to find this out rather quickly.
Also, about Telekom, they are haveing a big scandal going on right now in the german branch of it, so perhaps this is why nobody is paying attention to this in Telekom and changed the wrong picture.

its fake, dont get too excited
The display would touch the keyboard if the display were to be a flush bezel. If it wasnt a flush bezel there would be a gap when the lid is closed.
not buying it.

Agree with #1.

#2 I disagree with. No retailer gets these images ahead of time. Not even T-Mobile parent company.

arn

Optus had an entire iPhone 3G site set up for preorders within minutes of the official announcement.

They had images beforehand.

It *could* be real, and the bottom could be for the new 15". If they shaved some height off the screen they could've thickened the base to allow 12.5mm optical drives (which might confirm BD on the MBP's). You can't really tell, but that might be a silver chiclet keyboard on the top there too.

Why would they need to? 9.5mm Blu-Ray drives have been sampling from Matsushita since late last year.

Does Apple even care about Blu-Ray?

So the looser that mocked this fugly thing up was too lazy to change the bottom of the machine, and just colored the bezel of the screen black to mimic the one on the iMac... wow!

Bet that nimrod doesn't even understand why the iMac has that black bezel, and why it's not needed on the MacBook Pro unless the entire thing is going to be black.

The keyboard is the only thing I hope they keep.

Amen! I hope they never EVER put the Mac Book keys on the MacBook Pro.

Interestingly enough though, if you trawl through the Telekom site's Apple range

http://www.it-shop.t-systems.de/tsystems/tsi_b2b/Apple.html?_n_=catalog&_t_=rubric&rubricid=213306

they are showing the same pic for the 2.5GHz version but the old photos for the 2.4 GHz version.

I agree the specs are b***cks and the 2.6GHz has been a bto option 'till now.

Some silly Telekom person extracting the urine I believe.

2.4, 2.53, 2.8 Agreed.
2GB for the 15"s standard, 4GB standard for the 17", upgrades to 8GB I think they will be 2 GB standard, at least for now (especially with DDR3). Next upgrade may be 4 GB.
9650M GT or comparable ATI card No way! HD 3800, 9800M GTX, SLi! HD 4870 FTW! :p
250GB standard HDD with 300 on the upper two models and 320 and 500 as BTO Sounds fair.

NO BLU-RAY. NO FRICKING AIRESQUE TAPERING. Agreed on both, although I do see more taper than the current MacBook Pro.

i really hope it doesn't get tapered like the air. it'd probably have to sacrifice performance to do that
Yup. And Apple has no problem doing that.

Also, do you gentlemen see the new MacBook Pro on September 23rd?
I consider it a possibility, but I'm not holding my breath…

…although this post puts some confidence in that. We could see MacBook Pros on September 23, and MacBooks in October.

What happened to the quad core, blu Ray 2.8Ghz MBP?
Ask those who have that on their wishlists.

How the hell do you open it?
With your imagination:D
Post of the month.

Well even if this is fake, what material do you think the black rim is made of? Do you think that Mac would use a combination of aluminum and plastic? Maybe this would help with people's wifi reception reservations, but I can't imagine how it would look in person...

I think it'll have matte black on it's edges like the original iPhone- or maybe it will have a black backing to allow for better wireless like on the Touch or iPhone 1.0? Not covering the whole back of course, just a small percent of it.

Ummm...

I'm more intrigued as to why it wouldn't have the iSight camera.

I thought that I'd use the camera more and really haven't used it at all. Who wants to see me anyway...

It's of very limited practical use... Sure, one night, drunk, I did some Photo Booth but then who doesn't. It was worth some very well deserved laughs. Aside from that, it's a waste. Apple could get more money by dropping the camera, keeping the price the same and bringing back a slimmer iSight that's been on a severe Jenny Craig diet!!! (Hi Valerie, just waiting for your call)

But...

You're right, the Germans were never any good with technology.

But, to be honest, neither is Dell. See, Dell would bring this out with some stupid 'Gotcha'. Something like a 1G memory max or a really useless feature like a Blu-Ray writer that wouldn't work right or a screen like cats claws on your eye balls or it would weigh 12 pounds or have a very early gen Pentium M or something...

Or Mojave (Vista) Ultimate... YEECH!
