LOL at all the people trying to act like the touch bar isn't anything special. Looks like a huge functionality improvement for using a notebook, and they specifically showed how versatile it is for high-level pro software. Nothing like it exists in the notebook marketplace currently.

Ok, let me preface this with I hate moaning too, but I'm about to do it too. Why oh why did Apple not offer 32 GB of RAM in the upper-end 15" MBP? I am a pro user and 16 GB is not enough for me today, let alone in 2018 or 2019. This is such a beast of a machine except for this one area in which it falls critically short.

No standard usb, iPhone 7 headphones cant be used with this, iphone 7 out of the box usb charger cant be used with this, a touch bar instead of touch screen, Apple innovation is officially ****ed! Glad I bought a surface book now instead of waiting for this ****.

The uk prices are absolutely ridiculous. Can't see many people paying these prices.

I know the £ vs. $ has dropped in value since June but they are damned expensive aren't they?

The last MacBook (with SuperDrive and user accessible RAM which has now been discontinued) was £899.

£550 to lose the SuperDrive, accessible RAM with speeds of 1866Mhz instead of 2133Mhz and no Touch Bar... sod that!

I paid $1999 for my 15" rMBP back in October of 2012. The flagship feature of the new rMBP is the Touch Bar. The BASE price of the 15" is $2399. You gain the Touch Bar, and that's essentially it hardware wise. Sure there are the spec bumps, but that's not significant in terms of a new model. Oh, two new colors...and the Apple logo isn't backlit anymore. Why is that worth $400 more?

I wanted to buy this model since my rMBP is 4 years old and I'm on a 4 year upgrade cycle but there's no way I'm shelling out $2500 on a new MacBook. Disappointed.

I really like the new tech, but I think the tiering is dumb. Basically puts a $300 price tag on the Touch Bar. If they believe so strongly in the new way to interact with your laptop, offer two sizes and put it on both. I felt the same way about Force Touch on iPhones.

I'd also appreciate those nifty i7 quad core processors in a Mini.

You're looking at it the wrong way. The low end MacBook Pro is for those that would likely buy a MacBook Air. It's a smaller package for those not looking for all the bells and whistles. Cutting $300 from the price will help many of those that would have bought a MBA, go with the Pro instead and get the advantages it offers (higher performance, smaller package, etc).

Sadly, I think Apple really has lost its way. A company this wealthy and formerly innovative should be able to put out a line of products and more software in a more cohesive way on a much more regular basis. And they appear to be obstinate about the future integration of mobile and desktop that their competitors are surely working on. Touch Bar is a nice and useful iteration, but should have been a sidenote in a much larger presentation with a line of computers with a new Mac Pro, Mac Mini, iMac and new Magic Keyboard 3 with Touch Bar and Touch ID. The MacBook Pros are nice but only evolutionary. I'm a long time Mac fan and own many Apple products and will continue to buy, but I'm not very impressed and certainly not by Apple's usual standards.

And perhaps that's the problem: you're not impressed but will still buy their products. Hey, i feel the same way and own many Apple items. I for one, will not purchase this new MacBook Pro. I'll look for a refurbished model that's a year old.

Laughing at the complaints about the prices of these when everyone was seemingly so impressed with the immensely more expensive Surface Book models just released yesterday.

There is a surface book over £4000???
