The MacBook Air as king of price (one screen size)
The MacBook as king of portability (one screen size)
The MacBook Pro as king of power (two screen sizes)

Makes sense. Can't wait.

They are running out of time to issue invites, and if there is no event....prepare to be disappointed :(

I'm curious as to what they're going to do with the MacBook Air pricing model. It's currently priced at $999 and it's expected to gain all of the features of the 12" MacBook that is currently priced at $1299. They're either going to have to dramatically increase the price of the Air or dramatically lower the price of the retina MacBook.
My guess, same price same screen with the slow SSD.

I can't believe Apple is shipping a product with an input method (Qwerty keyboard) that was developed in 1868. They should have 'courage' and remove the keyboard replacing with just one giant wireless detachable touchpad where you scribble out your input. Sure it'all only last 5 hours before needing recharging and the latency for gaming will be worse and it will have no tactile feedback, but this is future! Stop looking backwards and get with the program!

They should put it out with the Dvorak keyboard. :D (yes I know this is something you can change in the settings)

THANK YOU!

I always feel like I'm alone in this view. I guess this prevalence comes from all the 'prosumers' who think they're pro but really aren't, who're using normal compact cams or entry- to mid-level DSLRs that have switched to SD a while ago for whatever reasons only known to Canon and Co. (probably because the cards are cheaper = more appealing to people).

I mean, even while latest pro models offer SD slots, they ALSO continue to offer CF ...I wonder why... ;)

This is dumb. SD cards are HUGELY common in the professional world. I work in LA shooting and directing commercial shoots, music videos, photoshoots and have worked with Hasbro, Honda, Marriott, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, DNCE among others - SD is all over the place. Your equipment alone doesn't make you a pro. A pro uses the best tool for the job and budget - sometimes it's a Hasselblad, RED, or Alexa, sometimes it's a 5DS R, Sony A7RII or A7SII, or a Fuji XPro2 - or a fleet of GoPros to create VR material - and doesn't try and lump everyone into categories like that. Heck, I do extensive commercial aerial work for music videos and commercials on a DJI Phantom 3 Pro because it's portable, low key, and inexpensive to fly. It's all about how you use it.

SD is hugely common and only becoming moreso as speeds increase up and past what CF can offer. High data transfer needs are moving from IDE-based CF to SATA-based CFast, but SD is by far the most popular and is invaluable to me and a ridiculous amount of working professionals in the creative industry

And in the event that I didn't quite sell you, every single consumer camera on the planet that isn't a smartphone uses SD or microSD. That alone should be enough.

Finally, getting rid of all the standard ports and replacing them with a bunch of usb-c ports that need adapters for all my devices.

If it doesn't have a lightning port, you will also need a dongle for the new Apple headphones.

I swear if you need a dongle to charge your headphones, i'm out of the Apple eco system.

I feel about 50% confident that it will have an SD card slot. My main reasoning is that survey that Apple did just after the 7 came out asking about what ports people used like the headphone jack and I think it also asked about SD cards. That to me indicates Apple still has some sense to know doing so know will piss A LOT of people off.

The USB C flash drives on the market cost over twice the regular ones, and are much bigger in that they include both USB A and USB C. I can see this being a reasonable transition, however, if they plan on using USB C for a long, long time. I will miss flush USB flash drives, though. Plus, they've been shipping iPhones with USB A ports forever even though they sell a computer (MacBook) that only has 1 USB C port, and I'm sure many people like myself use their computers to charge their iPhones. I would prefer they keep a couple of USB A ports, but I can understand the appeal of a reversible port. The MacBook with a single USB C port never seemed reasonable.

Eliminating the SD card port means one more cable I'll have to keep track of for transferring images from my camera, and I'll have to get some sort of special adapter for it, as well.

Uhhh, getting rid of USB A ports in favor of USB...right after they just launched a new iphone that has a USB A connector on the computer end of things? That doesn't seem right.

Wondering if it'll have a lightning port for headphones now that they're doing away with the headphone jack.

How's the weather up there on your high horse?

For external hard drives, you can get a USB C cable to USB B Mini. For flash drives, there will be plenty of releases of USB C flash drives, for iPhone, there is already a USB C lighting cable, I don't see it being a big issue.
