I was considering a M11x or a new Macbook once they hit the refurbished store. My Macbook hasn't stopped working so that big Sauder computer desk and a Dell U2410 look a lot nicer now.

I really don't like the feel of the aluminium notebooks from Apple. It's very unsettling to me.

If you are serious I would highly recommend getting out of the house and hanging out with a friend or meeting new people. Nobody should ever be that emotional over a material thing.

*Eyes water*

Obviously i'm joking. But I would be annoyed, very, very, annoyed.

Quick Amex questions:

1.) Is this ANY type of Amex card? I have Blue

2.) How exactly do you go about getting Amex to cover your product if it goes on the fritz in year 2? What's the process like?

I think that it's any Amex, I have Clear. I've only had to claim a warranty issue once for my Nikon SLR and it was very painless, signed a form, got repair quote and faxed it in. They reimbursed me for the repair costs Nikon was charging a month or so later.

From my experience Apple seems to make very well engineered projects that are extremely durable.

i don't think apple product is really really that extremely durable and perfectly well design like they claim. if so then they will not have the screen issues (macbook pro and imac), hard drive failure, even the previous macbook casing discoloration issue. if not mistaken i think there's also a graphic card incompatibility issue with the macpro... in all i think apple product is better than others but not to the extend of perfect 10 scores. and there's no denying that there are people using other brands and their machines are still working perfectly fine even for 5 yrs...

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro updates?! Since when does Apple give us what we want?

As of yesterday. Didn't you hear? It was the "One More Thing" at the iPhone OS 4.0 talk. "We will give you whatever you want, unless you want multi-tasking on older iPhones and iPod touches."

Techs took the macbook and 3 days later they got their fixed machines, no questions asked and no charges.

Oh gosh... I tought Apple service was the best available, instead it took 3 days for the whole process to take place... When I had an issue with my former notebook, an high-end Packard Bell, they pick-up the pc one afternoon and sent me back the machine the next morning!

I think AppleCare is overestimated as other Apple stuff and I won't take it when I'll finally buy my first MBP...

Man, some of this **** is pretty funny. I just hope they don't raise the prices too much. This will be a great upgrade from my black macbook. I'm very excited. :)

errrr... mbp, please?

Is it weird that the order for my 15'' mbp was placed March 29th, and after having received one email from apple apologizing for having not shipped by the estimated date, have now missed the new "on or before" April 9 shipping estimate?

I can only hope the delay is for one very, very good reason. After months of waiting, then macbook troubles, then caving and just buying the current model.... am i maybe getting... (prob not)

Applecare isn't about the speed or quality of the service, its an insurance policy for very expensive replacement parts that when broken write-off your computer. For instance if the motherboard in your 13 month old computer needs replacing and you don't have Applecare, it is likely it will not be that much more expensive to buy a new machine.

Best Buy's website is not shipping a lot of the current MBP and Air lineup's. Let's hope the 13th!!!

For it to be taken so long I am guessing there will be a major change in the line up. It should have been updated around the time as the macbook. The macbook was updated twice in a short period of time yet the MBP hasn't been touched since WWDC.

Very odd...

Are people seriously bashing the purchase of an extended warranty?? Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want, but I always get the extended warranty with a computer.

Last year, I had a computer that I bought the 4 year extended warranty for. It was an Intel Dual Core desktop with 2 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. 3 years and 11 months into the warranty the power supply blew on the machine. Four days later I had an Intel Quad Core desktop with 8 GB of RAM and a 640 GB hard drive sitting at my front door. There were no questions asked and no problems.

I always recommend the extended warranty on big ticket items. The warranty almost always pays for itself if you ask me.

Yeah, I always get the extended warranty depending on the store. I don't like the best buy warranty, it's screwed me over before. I like Sams Club and Costco's Concierge service though. They have been pretty good and it has paid for itself more than a few times.

Yeah, Amex = great.

I have a Amex Blue too and here is the site for it. Check out the "Shopping with confidence" section. :D

most of the major places in the UK seem to be out of stock - Dixons , Argos , Laskys , John Lewis

Costco's regular member return policy is 6 months, isn't that enough? I still haven't heard a compelling argument for AppleCare, they wouldn't be selling it unless it was making them money. Seems like most computer problems are from operator error or reveal themselves soon after purchase, with people claiming some great failure to justify their purchase. But I'm all ears to AppleCare apologists.

Over in Australia Dick Smith Electronics (www.dse.com.au) have no MBPs in stock, but the MBAs and MBs are still in stock. Coincidence? I don't think so!

I hope this rumor is true! I'm desperate for a new 13" macbook pro  :(

Been looking at converting from PC laptop, and in the process be hitting several shops to research/fish out which model is best suited for me... but in the process went out to reputable London, UK authorised reseller...and they're out of ALL 15" MBP's. (Not going to mention exact name as don't want to get them in hot water as am new to forum). But they did say that they're expecting the revamped MBP's to come through soon (not definitive date, but I did mention looking to get mine within next month, and they did suggest that the new ones would be out within that time....so who know's.... 13th? or toward end of month/ early May...dindn't push), but it def sounds like it will be out before WWDC.
