Apple online store now with delayed shipments

This is probably posted somewhere else in the hundreds of posts I haven't read, but...

Apples online store now says 3-5 business days for shipping instead of 24 hours it has been saying.

oh my gosh youre right! for US! its been 24 hours all day! and coincidentally enough macbook pros will be coming out thursday in 5 days..

I am one of the few people hoping they keep the optical drive. If they remove it I may have to reconsider my purchase. I need to be able to burn discs wherever I may be and carrying a external around kind of defeats the purpose of having a pro-level portable.

I think we'll definitely see Lightpeak on these new models. Anyone who's shopped for an external drive lately can attest to the fact that nearly all external portable drives are USB 3 now, and FW800 drives are nearly impossible to come by.

Lightpeak this week. I'd bet money on it.

This thread has me worked into a frenzy now. I just want to buy it NOW and I want it on my doorstep NOW.
:p

it is interesting that they redesigned their webpages with the darker menu headings..

The more I see it, the more I believe it is related to the new MacBook LiquidMetal possebilty - I have strong feelings about this, and it seemd to be
one another AppleTv-like color..

i still want the optical drive too

and thursday is sooooo far away! ahh

hm interesting,

I could have sworn they didn't used to put the following line on the refurb items:

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Originally released April 2010
13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display
4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
250GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

anyone confirm?

I can confirm that as I've been constantly tracking the refurbs the past month and they all did not have those dates.

Does Apple ever limit how many Macs you can buy in-store during a single transaction? Anyone have any insight on this matter?

Most I've ever purchased was 2 during the same transaction.

i just love how apple treats this like a matter for the fbi saying that you can't open it until further instructions and given and everything

I doubt it. How many were you planning on? I would think if you were looking to buy a large portion of their allocated stock, they would probably put in an online order for you, at least for some of them.

Do you think it would be worth the wait to wait until summer when Lion comes out so it comes with the MBP?

I'm in no rush, I REALLY do want a new Laptop (mines 4 years old) but I'll wait if it's worth it.

Was hoping to snatch 4-5 up for family & friends... do you think this is doable?

Is it just me or does the wait actually get longer closer to the day. Urgh... Thursday come faster....

Is waiting at least 2 months worth saving the hundred bucks or so Lion will cost?

I don't think so. Better to be using your new machine for an extra 3 months.

Also, if you wait for Lion, you risk being stuck with a buggy initial OS release, and being unable to downgrade to Snow Leopard, which we all know works like a champ.

I think this will just be a spec upgrade. The body will still stay the same since they are making the updates without an apple event.

I agree with you. Get the MBP now and pay for the OS update later.

Who knows... Apple might give it away for free... LOL

Liquid Metal, Lightpeak and dropping Optical drive in one go? Am I dreaming?? I hate you macrumors! lol If they keep releasing products like this I'm gonna not even bother gettig my salary transfered into my account and just point it into Apples account, saves some paperwork!
