Could happen! Unlikely, yes... but still possible.

Yeah it's been $30 since launch.

If Im not mistaken Snow leopard was $30 for an upgrade and that was primarily because it wasnt really a full fledged update right? It was primarily just under the hood adjustments if my memory serves me correctly.

I will be happy if they just bump the Specs and switch to liquid metal.

I can confirm that as I've been constantly tracking the refurbs the past month and they all did not have those dates.

interesting,

either A - they want people to be more clear on how old the machines are

B - the new machines might be very similar?

doubt B is the reason.. but always a possibility i suppose.

Now the question is.. get a new 13" or get a refurb 15"?

Apple treated Snow Leopard as an upgrade for Leopard, bringing a lot of performance improvements, but not many new obvious external features.

Expect Lion to be between 99 and 129 US$, as Apple does not see it as an update, rather an entirely new OS.

Still way cheaper than Windows 7 Professional / Ultimate, which is really what it "competes" with (if being a far better and useful OS can be seen as a competition).

ohh okay..but then again it would be free with a new mac

Some people are saying that maybe they could offer the ODD as an BTO option, so you could choose what suits you best.

Well, to do that, they'd have to CNC two different unibodies, so one would have the disk loader on one side.
And even if they use the same body, with a modular odd/sdd/whatever, then it wouldn't be a unibody anymore... so think about it ;)
