Do you really think they will introduce such a new technology in their laptops w/o a special event?

We can always hope, but w/o an Apple event, its likely not going to happen.

They introduced MiniDisplay Port at a press event in october 2008 with much being special about it.
Yes it is not as big as light peak, but it is now an industry standard

Do you guys honestly believe Light Peak will be in this product?

There are zero peripherals on the market that support Light Peak, and the last time Intel demo'd it, it was slower than USB 3.0. Aside from the MiniDisplay port, Apple rarely if ever puts ports in machines for products that don't exist.

I like to see APPLE updating USB 2.0 with a USB 3.0.
But I don't think Intel will turn the market table with Light Peak.

youre welcome 🙂 its BEAUUUUTIFUL! if that is what it looks like (minus the fact that it doesnt have an optical drive..i think) i would get that in a heartbeat!

Yep - it's one sleek looking Mac. I'm kind of anti-ODD myself, though!

And I'm with you - my debit card is ready to rock.

Hope they fix the sound

For the last few years the 15" has not sounded good. My wife's Air actually has decent sound though. The 15" with its off-center sub woofer really plays havoc with the stereo image. Not that the speakers should be super Hi-fi, but off balance sound in 15" models has been caused by an improper design for a long time. I preview a lot of video content and it requires headphones on the 15". Heck, they fixed the Air.

Oh, right on. You're making a wise choice by going Mac. If you plan on purchasing directly from Apple, don't forget to take advantage of the "Education Discount."

What size Pro are you looking at?

imagine they release a redesign model for the 17" only. Thus the reason for only the 17" having a price jump. Doubt it, but who knows!

I'm more interested in a redesign then the actual specs. I'm using a baseline 11inch air and I've experienced no slow downs or beach balls of any kind. So I'm obviously not doing any heavy work. A slimmer MacBook pro case (not as slim air) would be a nice update with higher res screen and liquid metal they may get my money for that. Again the actual specs wouldn't matter me

I totally agree. Time for another game-changer, Steve Jobs!

9to5Mac updated their article on the MacBook Pro release

http://www.9to5mac.com/

Looks like Apple dropped the low-end 15". No surprise they narrowed it down to 2 as it was rumored the lineup would lose one.

Also, no change in price for the 13MBP's which tells me this is a non-event. Most likely a spec refresh structured around SB.

I hope there's no design change - I don't like the wedge look in the Air. If I wanted to dice salad I'd get one though.

Any speculation on what might cause the $200.00 difference in prices? I'm looking at getting the 17" so am curious.

I kind of want the update to be disappointing 😱

so I don't want to spend money on a brand new 13" pro and buy a second hand 11" air instead 😱
