2.5 years is not long. We waited 5 years between redesigns last time ('03 - '08)... there was a slight modification to the bottoms in '09 I believe with the bottom being solid an no removable battery which really helped the design I think too. I bought last year in May so I'm good but I'm looking forward to Apple moving forward.

yeeah cause then he could change the date or something. so i guess macrumors is positive that it will happen thursday? not even a doubt

Apparently. Of course, the site has been wrong before. We shall see!

So, why are you waiting for Summer to get the Pro? Just for the bonus iPod?

Perhaps.

Recall that the 17 inch Unibody was introduce by Phil "Moo-Moo" Schiller in January 2009 at MacWorld w/o Steve Jobs. However, that was at the last MacWorld, so Apple was committed to coming to it.

Apple has also done some big introductions w/o special events, such as the original MacBook and the current generation iMacs. With that said, I don't see them making a massive change to interface (e.g. LightPeak) or no disk drives in larger notebooks without a little fanfare at the Apple Campus.

Honestly, I don't see LP or no-ODDs as a BIG deal for justifying a special event, especially without SJ around...Apple could simply update its splash page with some frontline announcements regarding the new technologies.

But having said that, I don't expect at all the introduction of LP.

My guesses are as follows:

- new SB chips, including one quad-core option for the 17 incher;
- bigger HDs and better GPUs, possibly with SDDs included in all models;
- all of them using MBA-like designs;
- higher-res displays.

The NOTS:

- NO Blu-Ray (which is moribund anyway);
- NO LP;
- NO USB 3.0;

The MAYBES:

- faster eSATA ports.

I got ripped off

I don't keep up on when new models may be coming out...

BUT, when I went into the mac store in salem, oregon 2 weeks ago to buy a new macbook, (I ended up buying a macbook pro), I asked the salesperson AND the manager if there was a new model coming out soon...

... they both stared at me like I was speaking Swahili.

If I were Steve, I would not be very different from being me: checking MacRumors every day several times.

well im gonna be a freshman in college and frankly my mom wont let me get it until summer haha also to get education pricing you need to be enrolled

Looks like Apple dropped the low-end 15". No surprise they narrowed it down to 2 as it was rumored the lineup would lose one.

Also, no change in price for the 13MBP's which tells me this is a non-event. Most likely a spec refresh structured around SB.

I hope there's no design change - I don't like the wedge look in the Air. If I wanted to dice salad I'd get one though.

Actually they dropped the mid range 15

Welcome to Sales 101

can't really be pissed off at them considering there has been rumors of an update since last october or november. you as a consumer should have done some research before investing a large amount of money into a product that you might own for the next 1-5 years. I'm not trying to bash you in any way, so don't take my response personally.

If I were you, I would just go back and ask to speak to the manager. Just tell the manager exactly what you just told us and hope for the best.
